Taken from Cave's blog:

We must apologize to players in Canada and Mexico who we have received messages from regarding the game not being available in those regions. We are currently working with Microsoft on the issue and will update when there has been some progress.

I'm glad they're working on it. :D

...man I just got the best score I've ever done after playing again thanks to this thread.

My goal when I was playing this everyday was 6.Bil

The score I just got was 5.96 Bil. Seriously, this will be the first shmup goal I actually accomplish! I'm hyped.

Yeah, USA gets games, Mexico and Canada gets apologies, while Europe, as usual, gets nothing (so far). ;)

I'm going with the bets some of the other guys have stated earlier that they're doing in-house communication with Rising Star Games to try and get something out of it.

Or they're not considering Europe at all period. Maybe even they're thinking II would be even more of a tough sell of logic to PAL region than the first was.

Whatever they are doing with Europe, I'd like to at least hear some information about what's in the plans, rather then being left in the dark while the North Americans are getting the goods (hell, it took, what, two weeks at most, from the announcement to the release of DS2?)

IF we end up getting a boxed release, I feel like we're the ones with the most luck, but let's see what happens before jumping to any conclusions...

Take it easy PAL guys, I think RSG will not just announce DSIIx retail or GoD not sure, but I believe they got more CAVE releases to announce just a hunch though.

Dloaded it last night. Haven't gotten a chance to play. I was surprised it was only 1.16GB. For people that double dipped how much did it cut down load time?

Remember you can install disc-based games and play them off the hard drive as well. I can't imagine why the load times would be different once you install the disc, unless someone took the time to optimize the download version. (and considering they didn't bother even translating it ...)

Yeah, it's pretty much identical to having the disc version installed to HDD, except the disc doesn't have to be inserted. You even have to download the patch.

Thank god the dl is the complete DSIIX disc image! I was very relieved to see arcade mode included after dl was complete since Mr. Nanao does not like IIX digital hdtv real estate image very much or that "console mode," at all for that matter.

So going by posts here and on GAF:
  • • The download isn't IP locked, people from Japan and Europe have successfully bought it using a US XBL account.
    • The game works on NTSC-J and NTSC-U region 360s.
Does anyone with a PAL console want to try buying it to see if this release is region free or not?

Someone should try it because you won't lose out on anything. From my experience, if your console can't run the game, they won't allow you to buy it in the first place.

Not sure what you're talking about, because GoD titles are IP-locked. We've been through this.

>Games on Demand titles are locked by IP address. I've attempted to purchase Games on Demand titles using a Japanese account with Japanese points, and still have been unsuccessful. It will say "This content is not available in your current location.", regardless of your console, locale, or gamertag's region.

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 01&start=0

Yes, I'm quoting myself, because I'm speaking from personal experience--AS IN, I'VE TRIED--and this was the conclusion.

Moreover, I've actually had a Japanese 360 with Japanese GoD titles (bought from and inside of Japan), and tried to re-download them with a non-Japanese IP address. It let met download the entire game before giving me the error above. When attempting to purchase the game, it gave me the error above, but pre-existing titles would download fully before erroring.

This is also why I don't want to test this for the US distribution.

If someone wants to donate me some US points, I'll gladly test and hand over the account. Apparently they don't sell US points in 2000 lots on eBay?

Ugh, neogaf. This place has been factually proven to be filled to the brim with morons, but if I am to take these posters seriously:

They both have NA consoles, so the game is most likely region-locked. By standard, all Games on Demand titles are not only region-locked, but also IP-locked. Someone with corresponding US points and a US account can't download if their IP is outside of a certain range. There is a very slim possibility of people being able to download games with an IP hostmask which is unlisted.

In the highly unlikely event that this game isn't IP locked, it would be really stupid to exclude this from the European marketplace. Cave would probably have said something by now, which they haven't.

If someone wants to own this game via a US account which I could attempt to buy the game with, I'd be willing to test, but otherwise I really don't see anyone willing to buy US points and register a US account for a "test", especially considering US points only come in lots of 1600 and 4000.

Elixir,

Don't be obtuse. I was responding to another person in that thread who has a US system with a US account who lives in the UK.

To recap: I have a US system, with a US silver live account and I can buy, dowNload and play DSXII on the system from inside Germany...without resorting to a proxy. So, yes, this game does not check the IP for my region. (my other previous GoD purchases CAN NOT be redownloaded here in Germany, or even purchased).

As I said, I live in Europe (Spain) and I have an European console. I have an US account as well as my regular European one, but the US one doesn't have any points in it right now (I could put some if need be).

When I try to buy DSIIX, it tells me "this game region is not compatible with your console region", I will post a pic of this message in 8 hours if necessary. It's the same message other games such as the Raidens give me. However, if I try to buy other games that are region-free such as Super Street Fighter 4, it doesn't give me that error and prompts me to buy more points.

So even if the game is not IP-blocked (if it isn't, it could still be downloaded using a proxy VPN), I still believe is region-locked to European consoles.

If the game's downloadable outside of the US, that's great (for this instance--I can't honestly recommend this game), but in the event of the game being only downloadable on North American consoles, we're back at square one.

You do need to put points on your US account though, so those would be wasted.

I tried and It just tells me that the content is not available, blah, blah, blaaah. With a NTSC XBOX 360 no less.
Google Translate tells me that Unlimited Mode "is for people who like festivals."

What if you buy it online using PayPal and then log on to your account on the 360 to download the game?
