Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
ESPGaluda is a little bit better but I'm still having a hard time running it well without stupid loading lag and other little things that stop it running at that perfect framerate. I think it's my computer though, it's definitely a hell of a lot easier to setup than what it used to be and I recommend this release to anyone who's got a computer less than 3 years old.

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
I tried it the other day, and it ran at full speed but would randomly speed up and slowdown (not the games slowdown either). Made it really unplayable.BPzeBanshee wrote:ESPGaluda is a little bit better but I'm still having a hard time running it well without stupid loading lag and other little things that stop it running at that perfect framerate. Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
I would like to play DOJ with the arranged BGM though. So PGM emulation works on slower systems compared to PCSX2? Does that mean I can play Mushi Ultra *IF* it will ever be MAME'd?Samurai Fox wrote:DOJ WH/BL and Galuda are perfectly playable in MAME these days, and the great thing is that PGM emulation does not require a very high-end PC to get a perfect framerate. Unless you need to play Mushi (which is not currently supported in MAME), PCSX2 is not really necessary.
Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
I think by the time Mushi will be MAME'd you'll have upgraded your computer at least once anyway.

ESPGALUDA Arrange will never be in MAME.

Really, perhaps in the next months people will be playing Mushi with a keyboard in a custom Imperishable Night cab

Touhou cabs exist?
Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
bloodflowers had one, IIRC. Obviously it's custom-built.

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
Yeah, bloodflowers made one about six years ago: http://www.system11.org/temp/touhoucab/index.html

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
This could lead to some bad burn-in, way too many screen elements in Touhou games are static to run on a CRT all day.

It's especially funny because it's pissing on Touhou AND true!

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
Not pissing on anything, I'd wager to say almost every PC based doujin shmup has a CRT burn-in issue of some sort.

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
That's fair, though I was focusing on the "Touhou games are static" context.
Genetos should be pretty good with avoiding burn-in I'd imagine. It's got enough animation going on and I think it even had its own burn-in reduction settings. Most others would not be so good though.

I'm gonna go check these out today! I'll hopefully be back with photos and any reports of burn-in.AntiFritz wrote:http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/05/a-pc-g ... e-arcades/Sumez wrote:Touhou cabs exist?
They do

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
Well, that'd avoid burn-in, but Hellsinker isn't the right kind of game for short sessions.Bananamatic wrote:HELLSINKER

Re: Cave shmups in PCSX2
Has anyone tried PCSX2 for Mac? I got this but I'm having trouble getting it to work properly. Anyone have any pointers?
