anyway, anyone get it for the gba? was it a decent port?
Can't say how the port fares to the original as I've never played the latter, but I do like the game as it is. It's a bit flawed, but has some good stuff in there. I thought it was cool how in one of the later stages you can freely fly around a huge battleship, enter it at specific points and take the whole thing down.
I'm a closet Phalanx-fan, I tracked down Zero Divide just for Tiny Phalanx. Never even tried ZD itself.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
On a non-shmup-related note, but on-topic, another WTF boxart belonged to Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II for the NES. It had a picture of Fabio in a cheesy warrior garb.
Edit: Ok, I gave the game a run on ZSNES. I remember playing this game a few years ago. I didn't found the game to be too great.
Edit 2: Space Megaforce? OK, I try out the game on ZSNES. IT JUST FUCKING SUPER ALESTE!! I HATE WHEN GAMES HAS TWO DIFFERENT NAMES!!! Well, it solves the "Why this game never get to the US" problem. When I get a SNES, I'm buying the import version of the game.
So in the X68000 Phalanx, do you play Link? I ask because apparently they've stolen the Triforce with spaceships (check out that cover...it's right there under the ship!) and I assume we'll need Link to retrieve the Triforce...
Wow, thanx for that X68000 cover art, gigadrive. It goes without saying that Jap covers will almost always be better but with Phalanx I would never have guessed that much better. That is one neat little docking bay the ship is in.

I remember reading someplace that the "Triforce" symbol was not "invented" by the Zelda games, but actually stands for something...I forget what, though. In any case, if what I (partially) remember is correct, then the symbol could be used in more than one place, or more than one video game.

Yeah, you can find them all over the place. There's a triforce design on my dad's table drill in the shed.

The three linked triangles was a symbol of one of Japan's shogunates. Nintendo used it for the Tri-Force because they knew it would be universally recognized in Japan.

and there you have it. Thanks Kiken, I've always wondered where it came from.
Hey - i'm from the mighty Mississipp - a place full of rednecks - and i have to say that that guy is definetly a hillbilly. I also don't care so go ahead and call him a redneck.

decent and improved. you can actually SEE the bullets now! (bullets are yellow w/ a red border, as opposed to a flat red dot, which commonly lead to Invisible Bullet Syndrome for me...) no Pharmer Bob on the cover but it's definitely worth the $9 i paid for it. also you can continue from the last stage you played, but you can't add to your score... thus, it's better off to just play through it in one sitting, though the Continue option is good for practice, i guess. good freaking luck finding it, took me a few months til i got it at a Gamestop the same day it came in... lucky me. ^^

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but EGM did a feature on the cover art of Phalanx a few years back. Apparently the old man was a poster boy for Santa Claus as well
