Dang this is a sweet setup. The warm glow of the monitors...a potted plant. So serene.

I might have to reshoot the video with some Henry Mancini style renditions of CAVE soundtracks. :D

Emphatic! What a beautiful setup!

Very nice, looks like they're on a date or something.....

Lady & the Tramp spaghetti scene come to mind.

It's really nice to see that not only do you guys have some nice hardware - but also keen eyes for interior design.
Frankly, having a game cave in your basement is cool - but having a nice, minimalist, modern gameroom with things like plants, and window treatments...that's nice. And refreshing.

All that's missing is Bill Murray on one cab, and Scarlett Johansson on the other.

Seriously, this just looks awesome. I'm not ashamed to be the 5th guy to quote this image.

I really appreciate how you are seated next to the heater to be able to play bullet hell in the coldest winters while in boxers without freezing to death, say in a basement/uninsulated shed for example.

Just received my cab it looks great, but I have a slew of stupid questions...

I plugged my Gunbird 2 & Batrider boards in and all I have is sound, no picture on screen besides a white line across the center.

Also, how the hell do I open the control panel & coin mech door? I have one key and there are two keyholes on the cp and the key won't even fit in the coin mech door (not the coin drop box?).
If I understood correctly, i need to unscrew the screws by the keyhole?

How do I access the monitor adjustments?
Maybe I should just read the manual.

Also would it be safe throwing the PCB inside the cabinet or should I should I mount it on like the intro on AO says?

Thanks!

Volume may be turned all the way down on the boards.

Check your JAMMA connector for frayed or missing connections.
Speaker - is "l" and Speaker + is "10" on the JAMMA harness.

Don't know about your cab, but it may have an independent volume control.
Mine don't, Sega Aero Citys....

Either a frame collapse or the remote board has come unplugged / possibly the neckboard.

erm, I also wouldn't put the PCB on the floor of the cab leaning against a metal power supply either. :(

Gah. That sounds bad. :(

Removed the PCB out of there, I never had it powered on, but I probably would have forgotten about it.

Well, Matsu told me to open up the CP and tweak the monitor adjustment a wee bit to see if I can get picture back, but I moved one of the controls and it shut the monitor off completely. It's powered on and it doesn't have the hum that are common among CRT's.

I'm going to pull it out to the garage and give it a good cleaning then maybe get a hold of Kenchan or someone who probably has an idea of what they're doing.

Sounds like a nice plan. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that it's just a loose neckboard or remote connector like kernow suggested. If you tweak a pot and it turns off might not be the end of the CRT/chassis, just a coincidence. Just keep polishing it and let someone with a bit of experience have the first go at trying to solve the video issues. It's scary when you have no clue yourself, and when you're scared, shit happens more often than when you know what you're doing (sorta).

Where exactly is the neckboard? I'm assuming on the backside of the cabinet, in one of those access doors.

the neckboard is a little PCB about 3-4" square that connects to the back of the Tube. Be extremely careful around this part of the tube. It does not take very much force to break it, and if you do the whole CRT is done. I've broken one before and it SUCKS!

Yeah, be VERY careful if you want to look at that. Better have a look at the remote board harness (going from your control panel innards toward the chassis board), especially since when you touched that the monitor turned itself off.

Ok, I got picture after fidgeting with the monitor controls a little bit (mostly the wires heading back to one of the boards near the monitor). The picture was very, ehhh. The tube made this constant clicking noise and the picture was pretty white and flickery.

emphatic,

Can you please post a pic of your entire living room?? It looks really good from that angle and I want to see how you integrated it into the rest of the room so I can show my missus and hopefully go down a similar route. :P
