Mushihimesama bowling.. (and puzzle)
In case nobody had seen this yet:

What next? Mushihimemariokart with racing beetles?
EDIT - I only saw the flash link directly to begin with - the page seems to be for the Mushi puzzle game. I'm told it's called "Puzzle Mushihimetama".

I'd play that.bloodflowers wrote:What next? Mushihimemariokart with racing beetles?
And that one too.sethsez wrote:I want a fighting game with the cast from ESPRa.Da, ESPGaluda, Mushihimesama and Guwange.

It's Mushihime-tama. For the Location Test, it was Mushipoko-sama. They then released the real title some weeks later. I made mention of it in a couple of months ago in the "Cave's next game" thread somewhere in the bowels of this here forum. Mihara even babbled about it about, saying "I called it" or something to that effect.
Dave... don't become one of those "I know what's best for every company" posters. It is, perhaps, the most annoying thing on the internet next to those dickhead e77t morons. There's a lot more to a business than making solid games, unfortunately.Brilliant Cave. Don't focus on developing new shmups or porting any of your old one's or nothin'.

That's not the point, which is that this could signal Cave's dissapearance as a shmup developer. Rember Compile, when they decided to stop making more great shmups, and flooded the world with Puyo-Puyo games instead.sethsez wrote:Yeah, because it's been forever since they've made any.dave4shmups wrote:Brilliant Cave. And Gajin, I never said or implied that I know what's best for every gaming company, merely that Cave's venture into non-shmups may very well become permanent, as did Compile's. And speaking of what's good business, look what happened to Compile-they're not even around anymore.
And these new games they've come out with aren't even that enjoyable, IMO. At least Konami was able to make a great platformer out of their Twinbee shmup series.
I think thats a worst-case scenario, or you're being a bit too pessimisticdave4shmups wrote:That's not the point, which is that this could signal Cave's dissapearance as a shmup developer. Yeah, I think you're right Icarus; it would be pretty hard to imagine Cave not developing shmups anymore! I had forgotten about those next projectsIcarus wrote:I think thats a worst-case scenario, or you're being a bit too pessimisticdave4shmups wrote:That's not the point, which is that this could signal Cave's dissapearance as a shmup developer. If anything, Mushihime-tama is a nice little way of making a bit of cash to fuel their next big projects.

Maybe they just feel like a change.
I liked Uo Poko (their last one), hopefully as with most puzzle games - this is one PCB that will be affordable, pretty quickly.

I'm curious to know whether they've made a few modifications to the Uo Poko engine, or whether they've just switched out the Poko Cat for Reko, and kept the same gameplay. Either way, the game could be quite fun. Uo Poko was pretty addictivebloodflowers wrote:I liked Uo Poko (their last one), hopefully as with most puzzle games - this is one PCB that will be affordable, pretty quickly.

I'm looking forward to it. I like puzzle games until I get too frustrated.
And I won't comment on the "this could be their exit from shooters" just b/c they make one non-shooting game. That's not even speculation -- it's doomsday conspiracy theory.

I loved Uo Poko. They never stop making shooters, so this has to be a very nice break for the developers. Hell, maybe it'll be a Twinkle Star Sprites-like puzzle shooter.bloodflowers wrote:Maybe they just feel like a change.

Hail Atlantis!
From the looks of the loketest videos, Cave did the latter.Icarus wrote: I'm curious to know whether they've made a few modifications to the Uo Poko engine, or whether they've just switched out the Poko Cat for Reko, and kept the same gameplay. Its basically a re-release of Cave's 1998 "Uo Poko" but with mushi sprites/graphics. Still doesn't even seem worth $400 IMHO, I'm sure it will continue to fall in value.Pda wrote:So anyone eventually tried out Mushihime tama?Seems there are only a few persons(or nobody?)who actually played this for real.
Excellent.com is having the brand new kit at 400 bucks right now...
When I talked to Eight One about it awhile ago, he said it had "boss battles". Also, instead of clearing the field of orbs like Uo Poko, you only have to release a trapped beetle.
I am with Dave on this one...the price should keep falling until it is dirt cheap for a new kit (just like Uo Poko)

Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.
COWBOY-RJJ
COWBOY-RJJ
I got this yesterday - brilliant game
Not /quite/ the same as Uo Poko, in that you're not trying to clear all the orbs - but release the bugs trapped somewhere under them. The tank fills up with water very much more quickly too.
It also proved to be an instant hit with my girlfriend.
