Try using two fingers, or the rub method to get more shots in. Also, make good use of the slowdown at the outset of stage 1 as your mashing window of opportunity.

Alternatively... (also good for auto B for raising rank in PS Arcade)

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the standard edition asap? As far as I can see the first print is sold out and all that's left are the L.Es. I've cancelled my order which I was advised wouldn't ship until April. I doubt that'll even happen now with the earthquake/tsunami tragedy.

Where did you order from first? What region you in? ... Maybe there's a specific recommendation in your country.

Otherwise probably http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/

still in stock, apparently, dispatched in 24 hours... probably as fast as its going to get...

INFINITE HADOU GUN in Pink Sweets Arrange score attack, starting at 2:24.

...I've played PS for all of two minutes, so I don't understand how this was triggered. It can't be as simple as firing your last rose hip and getting an extend while the projectile's still on screen, can it?

And then the effect seems to run out at times...or maybe the player gets tired of spamming it.

On one hand, I like the idea of rose milking becoming more important to your score (it's almost worthless versus x64ing everything), but neutering the chaining system kind of ruins things.

I'll have to try to active that tonight.

It's OK. I ordered from Yes Asia who've just advised me they refuse to cancel the order and that their stock is coming from China and not Japan...

Obviously intentional.

There's an achievement for firing it and not missing 64 times in a single run with no continues allowed.

You start with 3 lives normally so 3. Not sure of the exact record, but it's over 500 million, so that's like 53 and you have to be ridiculously good at scoring. + 3 from special extend. +3 if you choose to start with 6 lives. That only gets you 59. Still, need to know exactly what triggers that.

Finally got it and played a ton over the weekend. Man these play really differently then the other CAVE stuff I've played. The limited bullet cancelling and odd scoring mechanics have made me really change up my shmup style. I also appreciate that these are longer than other more recent CAVE games. So far I'm mostly enjoying MMP. Its style is kinda funny. For pink sweets I'm totally lost on how to play. The first 2 levels I was like "man this is easy." then it gets crazy brutal. I'll have to watch some replays and read some play guides for these two.

I really enjoy the soundtracks. The transition from the happy techno during the stages to the intense stuff in the boss fights is fun. I really enjoy the happy music in stage 5 in MMP its so absurd considering whats happening on screen.

Matsuri mode is crazy intense I must have died like 30 times. Glad I got the LE this time. Would have hated to missed out on this DLC.

Forgive my ignorance but is Yagawa still at CAVE and which other games has he done? His style is so different I'm really digging it.

Yep, he's still at CAVE. His most recent contribution was DFK Black Label, I think Akai Katana as well.

I'm obsessed with Pink Sweets at the moment, love this game so much. It is just so different from the usual CAVE formula. I love setting my ship at the beginning of the game, speeding up the ship and the shot. It also cool to rip the enemies apart piece by piece. I wish Yagawa would make a new game similar to this style. From a design point of view this game is so unique that there simply won't be anything similar once Yagawa stops doing this stuff.

By the way, is there a way to cancel the rose cracker once it is loaded?

No there isn't. There's an achievement for using a hadou to sustain an x64 multiplier on the birds near the beginning of stage 1.

Excellent if you like the Hori SNES-style dpads, and feels telepathically correct after playing with an all-diagonals MS wireless 360 pad. Good for shooters and most action games, not very useful for fighters. Also works good with the PC 360 controller driver and xpadder.

However, I've heard the pad can wear out to the point that it gets issues with registering directions that weren't actually pressed. I haven't experienced it myself but Zaarock stopped using his beloved horipad because of it.

Unless the secret achievements list here is wrong, that is an achievement.

鋳薔薇バク○ッガ
鳥、波動ガン、64倍 以上全てを満たしている間に死に、復活した後に64倍を繋げた。 コンティニュー不可 (ピンクスゥイーツArrange)

^Is mistranslated in that list. Try it yourself. When you get to the first row of trees in St.1 of PS Arrange, fire a hadou, then rose cracker the first tree on the left, suicide by ramming an enemy after your multiplier is at 64x, and bomb the second tree immediately after respawning without dropping your combo or letting the hadou dissipate. Achievement unlocked, one hadougun fired.

My experience mirrors this. I liked the dpad on my hori but it wore out quickly. I've only had it for a little over 1 year, used it only to play my shmups, and it has been falsely registering directions for a while. For instance, when my xbox is on the dashboard the screen will randomly cycle through the different menus even if the controller is just sitting there. Also my A button sometimes doesn't register unless I hit it multiple times or press extra hard. :? I'm currently looking for a good replacement....

Ick, that's disappointing. Hopefully this only works in Score Attack mode and won't corrupt regular Arrange as well.

... Although part of me wants to try it out while yelling "HADOOOOOOU GUN!" non-stop impersonating his voice.

Yeah, that infinite hadou gun is retarded. Makes it so easy to beat Score Attack.

Bummer. I never really liked the dpad on the GameCube Hori pad (way too stiff). So I think I'll give this a miss.

Yeah, this only happens in Score Attack. EOJ was nice enough to translate the part in the description I couldn't understand:
EOJ wrote:When you have zero rose hips, and get an extend, it activates. Once in awhile it will go away, but as soon as you get another extend it comes back.

got my copy yesterday (finally). loving both games.
what the hell is the story with the wallpaper?
I'm playing with 0 rotation on my widescreen HDTV and regardless of
whether wide mode is on or off - the wallpapers are stretched.

in muchi muchi pork, you only see about half the character on the wallpapers (horizontal wallpaper(s))
really odd...

other than that annoyance, great games.

edit: on the game selection screen, I had to reduce the horizontal and vertical zoom to 93....
wtf
