Asada said in an interview that it takes 3 days to port their games to Xbox 360. Add that both games won't receive the HD treatment so there you have the short time period. However I hpoe that the arrange modes really are worthy. I have faith in Yagawa.

You want to house all discussion of both releases under that Cave Festa thread? Two new threads seems like a good idea to me. Gotta spread out all the inevitable ranting about lack of HD modes, scan-lines, bitching about options/filters, bitching out pre-orders...

So, how good is MMP anyway? It's cute, but it looks wonky enough to not be "too" cute. More of a weird cute.

I'm sure Cave will allow for those god awful voices to be turned off.

But really, is the game good stuff? How many stages? Does it stay true to Yagawa's style, or does he switch it up a bit?

This announcement made me happy. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a JP 360 by the time this comes out.
Feedback will set you free.

For me, second best Yagawa game behind Garegga, and probably one of the best Cave games ever made.

That's some high praise. It just looks so silly...it kind of makes you think it can't be as good as people say it is.

Don't judge MMP (and Pink Sweets) by looks alone.
They are both very well crafted games, with extremely sharp controls, intuitive scoring, and excellent level design.

Im also very hyped for MMP. I've only played a few credits earlier, but I loved what I experienced.
There are only two things I'm a bit worried about regarding playing for score. Boss-milking (if it's dull like in Ibara and Esprade) and loops (which I think is generally one of the worst features in this genre).

Seriously judging shmups by aesthetics alone is kinda silly , how they play should always be the priority interest .

Not always. I play Sexy Parodius because i like the silly style, not the gameplay. But at the same time it's a shmup I play casually for fun, not for score.

Somebody posted a Rafute 1-loop clear of this back in July. (hatena link for those without a nico account)

The uploader seems to have put it up because there aren't many MMP videos compared to other Cave shooters, and hopes that it will help someone clear the first loop. So I wouldn't expect anything too impressive, but hey, maybe you haven't seen it and will enjoy it. (I've only watched the first part.)

MMP seems to put much more of an emphasis on being funny and weird than actually catering to the clichéd anime fetishes. I love that, which is one of the reasons I'm so hyped for this. :D

Anyway, Sweets & Pork is excellent news. I'll finally bother to buy an X360.

WWhat I dislike the most about this release it is the lack for the moment of a LE. I think that this one really needs one and hope that Cave changes its mind and decides to make one that includes a double CD with the OST of both games.

I feel much the same way, from what little MMP I've played, and I normally don't like Yagawa's games all that much.

Not as excited for this as for DFK, but still pretty hyped. I'm waiting for some kind of LE announcement. I'd much rather have other content with an LE than the soundtrack, though, those are easy to obtain otherwise, no reason wasting some LE content on it.

Bad things with loops:
Game gets too long (supposed to be arcade-game anyway)
Once you're good at first loop, the first loop turns to a boring, mind-wandering inducing, wait when the nice part is the second one.
Feels kind of cheap, developer not having any other idea than to do the same thing twice.
takes away sense of achievement of clearing the first loop, it's not an 1cc after all.
It feels outdated now that a lot of games since mid-90s have more dynamic difficulties.

God and how. Raiden IV feels like it's dragging before you hit the end of the first loop. Tack on the extra Xbox stages and you get a 14 stage, two-loop nightmare.

Now that said I don't think loops are so bad if they just keep going like Gradius V, but only when playing competitively for score. If you're just trying to have fun it'll just feel long.
DMC wrote:Once you're good at first loop, the first loop turns to a boring, mind-wandering inducing, wait when the nice part is the second one.
It's also hyper annoying if the requirements for entering the second loop are really strict. Mind wanders, make one stupid little mistake, waste another half hour getting back to where you are.

Yeah, I left off the "tha Funkee Homosapien" part.

And MMP is a hell of a game. Also my second-favorite Yagawa game behind Garegga. Just a joy to play. Can't wait to own it again.

How would you guys who have played all the CAVE YGW games compare PS to Ibara? MMP?

Pink Sweets plays pretty uniquely. The game mechanics are so different that I would have a hard time comparing it to other Cave games, even by Yagawa.

Quite simply, Pink Sweets is Yagawa's modern remake of Recca with rank. You'd think people would be going nutz over it, like the original NES cart, but its so difficult, average shmup players will hate it.
