Sealed game collecting, however, is something that I think I understand, but definitely don't partake in. Collecting sealed games in the end has nothing to do with the actual video games, and everything to do with the collecting. It's about the feeling of owning rare items. I would wager people who collect video games don't actually spend much time playing video games at all, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've seen people with stamp collections who rarely use the postal service and people with Pez dispenser collections who don't eat Pez. It's all a bit silly to me, but I think I understand it, and if that's what makes them happy, then it's all good. I think some people that frequent the trading board here sort of fit into this category with PCBs...
But stamps and Pez don't quite do what video games do. You could use one stamp, eat one pex, and know for the rest of your life what most of the other ones are about. The same does not go for video games.
And I'm prety sure most of the people that collect PCB's actually play them.
I get it, having rare stuff is cool. But, so many games are still rare even when not sealed, and playing that rare game makes owning it so much cooler.
