I simply let the continue countown get to 0 like normal, but it wiped my score for some reason.

In between the last few high score runs, I had a few not so great runs, and it saved those scores. But the last 3 times I've beaten my high score...nothing.

Anyone know what's going on?

Edit: Well, it saved my next run, which is good, because I nearly doubled my previous score. 94 mil. I'm cheating, though...I set the extends to every 5mil rather than 10 while I'm learning the game (I know, I suck if I can't even beat it that way, although I managed to get to the final boss's 3rd or 4th pattern that time).
Make sure you don't hit restart when starting out bad on the first level because it will not save your scores or replay

Yeah, don't use the restart option.
Thanks! That's gotta be it.

Ahhh the classic "don't restart if you want a high score to stick" debacle.

I rather like adding lives or adjusting score-extends while learning a game, it's what I'm doing with Pink Sweets right now. Muchi Pork I can get to the last stage on so I think I'll stick with defaults for that one. Once you get a grip of things revert to defaults and post some scores, the hi-scores table is lonely!

Glad to have these games. Do hope that they patch in the missing enemy waves as it looks awfully odd when you get to that stage. Does anyone else notice screen tearing in the front menu of pink sweets.

Awesome emphatic , thank you very much !

Tried this this morning , i can't keep thoses settings for all my games ( i have to put 135 instead of 150 on DDP DFK , wich causes a " wave " effect on the scrolling ) , but on MMP/PS if i change the monitor settings to fit to your game settings , it's way better :D

I'm still sad that after trying on the same afternoon , DDP , Galuda and MMP , this port as the worth picture quality !

Anyway , thank you very much for your help !

Something I noticed in a bunch of the youtube videos for Pink Sweets that I'm unable to duplicate at home:

In some of the videos when a player dies, when the next ship comes on the screen they start shooting and the rose cracker does not fire. However when I'm playing and die, I come back with a charged shield and the rose cracker goes off the first time I shoot (The gauge at the bottom of the screen isn't charged at all, however the shield in front of my ship is. Then the gauge goes to max instantly once I gain control). How are players able to shoot after dying without using the rose cracker?

I've read through the various guides and strategy sections here and on cave-stg and I don't see it mentioned anywhere. I've also tried switching between 1.01 and 1.00, but both behave the same for me.

By changing speed maybe (press both buttons at once)?

Ok, that did it. Changing speed seems to dissipate the whole bar whenever you use it.

Yeah, using speed adjust to diffuse your shield is extremely important (I think), because it doesn't raise rank as much (at all?) compared to popping the cracker.

Anyone know what makes rank increase faster, getting fully powered-up or getting all 3 rose hips?
I'm trying to figure out how best to survive the first 3 stages with getting as few items as possible. I should probably just ask at cave-stg, and let you guys continue to bicker.

I couldn't get it to work at all. I'd press both buttons and still get a Rose Cracker.

But I don't really care for Pink Sweets outside of the Arrange. Muchi Muchi Pork is where almost all my playtime on this release will be going, because Pink Sweets pretty much takes everything that makes Battle Garegga a completely unfun game and makes it so much worse.

I disagree. I can totally see every enemy shot in Pink Sweets.

I don't think both buttons changes speed in arrange mode, only arcade mode.

Pink Sweets pretty much takes everything that makes Battle Garegga a completely unfun game and makes it so much worse.
I strongly disagree. Pink Sweets just separates the CAVE-Boys from the Shmup-men is all 8)

Really though, if you approach it like standard cave affair you are going to suffer, and probably not enjoy it. Once you get a hold of the shield, hip grazing, and speed throttle it becomes unreal. Don't space out for a second though, there are lots of "get the heck out of the way" moments.

"Hip grazing"? You mean cancelling bullets with the rose hips?

So far I'd been liking MMP way more than PS, but today something just clicked. I'm not going to learn the game to the point of rank control, because I just find that annoying, but I am definitely starting to enjoy Pink Sweets. Speed throttle is taking a lot of getting used to and for the most part I stay at the second lowest setting, but I'm beginning to see the advantages of it. Also nice to finally understand Option control. My score's shit, but i'm starting to earn some extends so it isn't all bad.

You are totally correct in saying approaching the game as a typical Cave shooter is a bad idea. It's very much Raizing. I also kind fucked up by looking up starts first and trying to play following there advice rather than just doing what came naturally. This is definitely the kind of game you need to get the feel for first before you try to restrict yourself and play for score.

I just checked out Matsuri mode last night, and on my first shot placed #27 on the leaderboards (there was a fair bit of fluky dodging going on where if I'd known what was coming I would have been psyched out by it and died, I'm positive)! Good to see EOJ up the top there. Anyway, great mode. After having favoured Pink Sweets 1.01 and it's glorious Arrange mode for the past few nights I thought I'd give the Pork more time and it paid off. It is truly an excellent little game, especially when you get your Pork Gold Rush flow on.
These two STGs are essential to the Cave catalogue as there is really nothing else like them, and secretly hope that a follow up to PS isn't totally out of the question despite it's lack of popularity in Japan.

I agree. I absolutely love Cave, but it's nice to have a little variety in their catalog. I was starting to think maybe I was getting a little bored of them, but I'm willing to chalk that up to me just not liking DFK. Here's hoping Yagawa has some ideas in the works for a new Raizing-style game, or even some brand new ultra craziness.

I'm once again left wondering why people thought that there would be some kind of uproar as people began to realize this wasn't traditional Cave: I think both of these games are absolute masterpieces.

Anyone else had any issues with changing the games settings? Eg. upping the speed (difficulty 2) or general difficulty 1? To me, whether i put it on Super Easy or the Hardest setting and then starting a game, it seems to make no difference in speed or difficulty. Am I missing something?

Quick Q guys--I know people have complained that you cant enter 3 digit initials for high score--and that it does it automatically, however, I cant read the three letters that Pork puts up for my scores...not sure what its based on in my gamer profile? How does it determine the initials?
