It's a Kuiper object, like Pluto, so YMMV.

10th "Planet" in our solar system, one of the multi-billion other ones we didn't know as of yet. Some of Jupiters moons are probably bigger than this...

I mean: "WOW! Let's interupt all regular tv programs and get the president on tv!" ;)

Like I said, YMMV

It's not the most astonishing find of all time, but it's still fairly noteworthy. It's larger than Pluto, a pretty significant-sized chunk of rock. It's certainly no mere asteroid...a once-in-a-century discovery.

I'm more interested in space than what's on TV...

What I wanna see is how the astrological community accepts the discovery of this new celestial object, since wouldn't that mean every "prophecy" they've ever made is off by a planet's width?

hmm, Simpsons on channel 5...

So many rocks and objects in space! I guess we could get all excited about every new orbiting rock in space but I could care less.

Now if it was a totally NEW phenomenon I'd want to know about it, but this "tenth planet" rumour as been going on since (probable before) I was able to read. So we found one now, we'll find another one in time too I believe.

In short, nice to know, but not worth the fuzz.

So Melmac actually exists. (IIRC, Alf's planet Melmac was supposed to be the 10th in our system)

Agh! Mondas! Cybermen! Runawaaay!!

Actually I'd be more shocked if someone found the 4th episode of The Tenth Planet.

They sure as hell aren't here in the US; unless you're interested in sports, which I'm not, the latest no-talent sitcom, or reality shows. :?

Heh heh, reminds me of the old "Duck Dodgers" Looney Tunes episode, wherein they had to locate Planet X and claim it as a new and vital source of the main material used in yo-yo polish.

I don't think it should be classified as a planet, and I don't believe Pluto should be either, if it were discovered today.

Pluto does present a special case, though. I feel that since it was discovered before we knew any better, it should retain its designation as a planet, even though it's just a Kuiper Belt Object.
