What do you suppose it would have to do with Luca's driver? MAME drivers aren't exactly ideal for dropping into other emulators.

I realise that, but who says it's the MAME *code* being dropped into Demul?
I'm thinking something more along the lines of the buisness with the YM2612 chip where Eke-eke did all those tests on the hardware and then improved his emulator based on the findings...that info, if memory serves, got passed around to MAMEdevs and then implemented into MAME in it's own way.
Frankly this emulator still seems so oddball to me that I wouldnt be surprised if there actually *was* MAME code, but I doubt it.

and it's 'simple' hardware compared to the Dreamcast. For fun I tried throwing something together myself, didn't take long to get something showing.

Absolutely no need for Luca's driver. The Demul guys are more than capable of figuring out something this simple on their own.

mjclark wrote:Just read on another forum that the guy who made all those videos says "all cv1000 games are working" in reply to being asked if CAVE games will be emulated in the next version of Demul.
This is a list cv1000 games:
Mushihime Sama
Espgaluda II
Ibara
Ibara Kuro Black Label
Pink Sweets : Ibara Sorekara
Deathsmiles
Deathsmiles MegaBlack Label
Do Donpachi Daifukkatsu
Do Donpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label
Mushihime Sama Futari Black Label
Muchi Muchi Pork!

So that's that then :D
Wow. I mean, it makes sense, since all* CAVE games since the PGM era until now run on SH3. But isn´t the other question dumping and decrypting the PCBs?

And man, I feel bad for wanting the complete CAVE catalogue running on my PC :?

(*except for DSII, of course. I´m a layman when it comes to emulation, but shouldn´t this be stupidly easy to emulate since it basically runs on a Windows PC? Or does it have heavy encryption?)

Righo, that makes sense. I guess at this rate we'll be running ESPGaluda II via Demul before anything of Lucas' goes public so his work may very well end up redundant anyway. Moot point.

Not that I really have to explain myself to anyone, but basically it boils down to three reasons that are out of my control:

#1 Paranoid family. Enough said.
#2 Australia's currency strength (COD:Black Ops at $120, anyone?).
#3 Western Union's a bitch (Skykid knows what I'm talking about, being the middle man for a purchase I'm already having headaches with ;)).

In all fairness if I could get the game I would, it's not like I'm a complete pirate. I DID get Guwange XBLA after all. It just really annoys me when people act so ignorant about other's situations. It's like the Greeks in my town looking down on those that can't afford going to $200 resturants for a pathetic plate and small food. :(

#2 So the Australian dollar is the strongest it's ever been. That makes everything you buy in any other currency cheaper. Buy abroad. 60 USD is 59 AUD today. Two years ago it was 92 AUD!
#3 Get a debit card and a Paypal account. Sorted

1. Unless you're 12 years old then you can get yourself a debit card, regardless if your family is "paranoid".
2. As mentioned the Australian $$ is almost on par with the USD. Sure, IN Australia a game is $120, but when you import from NCSX you're just paying USD prices.
3. Debit Card. Paypal. Easy.

Having a disc-based game with a limited print run on a region-locked console you have to import and that can break sooner or later down the road (yeah, the new 360 are supposedly RROD-free, I´m talking about general wear and tear) is one thing, having both the game AND the hardware completely emulated and playable on almost any reasonably fast PC is another.

To me, getting games for free is honestly the least interesting part of emulation, compared to the incredible convenience MAME and others offer. If CAVE made their own SH3 emulator and put these games on Steam I would pay money for that in a heartbeat - but I´m not really THAT much into this hobby, and I draw the line at importing a console that´s available in my country as well but that I can´t use because of the idiocy that is region locking (and that now has spread to handhelds thanks to the 3DS).

Emulation, unlike torrenting ISOs, is not just about piracy. And really, with the ports being redone with completely new modes, more levels, hi-res graphics, arrange soundtracks and online leaderboards, the pure arcade versions are less compelling in comparison if we´re talking in terms of sheer content.

Do you think Cave cares what you do you with your game after purchase? Why not buy the game on release new, keep it on the shelf and continue to emulate with a clear conscience?

Paypal are a bunch of thieving fucks anyway, so one less customer doesn't bother me. I'm happy to be a shmup missionary and get Deathsmiles to the far reaches of the globe by hook or by crook, so no probs there. WU isn't that much of a problem, just make sure you read their very strict instructions thoroughly before attempting to retrieve any payments.

There's no ARM7 on Raiden II. The design for the ARM7 core wasn't even in existence in 1993.

They probably paid a good chunk of money for it in manufacturing costs, too. Doesn't Raiden II have a whole semi-custom chip for protection?

Well whatever the consequences of this might be I believe that CAVE is obviously dropping the SH3 and we might see in the future some actual proper protection.

At exactly 10:44 AM CST this thread became too close for comfort.

Earlier it was okay, but now...hoooooo!
