One Answer Question Thread
Re: One Answer Question Thread
Does anyone know a joystick that will drop right into a Dreamcast Agetech stick? I'd like to upgrade it with an LS-32, but I've heard they don't fit without some Dremel tool shaving.

All of the excellent Donpachi players simply do not seem to want to share their videos beyond a very small circle of fellow players, though they're still kind enough to let us know they have videosdunpeal2064 wrote:My question: Why can't I find superplays of donpachi? It seems like there is a lot of info on dodonpachi, but not nearly as much about its predecessor

My question: Is there any particularly meaning to all the default highscores in Cave games that aren't round numbers? (Futari/Espgaluda II/DOJ come to mind in particular)

Re: One Answer Question Thread
I dont suppose anyone has the links to or can upload the 1st and 2nd episodes of the subtitled Lock-on? Unfortunatly the original uploader on YT shmupnut has been banned leaving only the un-subbed versions of the french shmup show. Also episode 3 was never subbed was it?
Its great that the french forum went to the trouble of making those vids, maybe system11 could do a simlar thing sometime

DOJ: the original version scores were for the then-current DDP world records (?); the Black Label scores were for a DOJ original version competition. Likewise, the DDP default scores were for the then-current DP world records (?). Notice the given initials for all three games...Aliquantic wrote:My question: Is there any particularly meaning to all the default highscores in Cave games that aren't round numbers? My question: Fire Barrel has a world version--this version is known as Air Assault--is it identical to the Japanese version?

CriCro question: How do I reach Crimson Heart in practice mode? It just ends after Gorgoneion
Re: One Answer Question Thread
Get to the TLBs in one credit in Arcade Mode and you'll get them in that difficulty in Practice (1CC to them in Simple, practice them in Simple; get to them in Original, practice them in Original etc).Treasurance wrote:CriCro question: How do I reach Crimson Heart in practice mode? The update patch better add the option to practice the TLBs directly

Re: One Answer Question Thread
I gots a question. Is Giga Wing 2 worth the buy? I noticed it has 4p co-op, which sounds both awesome and possibly way too hectic to pull off. The game does look decent, but I'm on the fence, so I figured I'd get a random opinion. If you think there is a game more worth the money, then let me know

Re: One Answer Question Thread
Great idea @ OP!
Other than rambling about CC...
I have a few questions @ the moment:
1) Can I use the Hori Real Arcade Pro EX (for Xbox 360) joystick to play doujin/MAME on my PC?
2) Where can I find a good large CRT monitor suitable for Tate on PC (and perhaps consoles as well?)
Crimzon Clover? You guys already know all the bosses' names? And a patch? Must have to check that CC thread...Treasurance wrote:CriCro question: How do I reach Crimson Heart in practice mode? It just ends after Gorgoneion

Not sure if that stick would differ from mine (SFIV 360 stick) aside it being way better. I dl'l xpadder (just googled it and screwed with it a bit, but I'm no expert)Yoshino wrote:Great idea @ OP!

Hope this helps

And the names of the bosses are the same as the names of their music tracks. Well, probably.
Re: One Answer Question Thread
You think having ADHD would have a effect on playing shmups? Dumb question, I know, but does anyone else think taking Adderal. would improve shmup performance with those with ADHD? And no, I'm not taking it just for the sole purpose of shmupping.

I have no experience with Giga Wing 2.dunpeal2064 wrote:I gots a question. Is Giga Wing 2 worth the buy? I noticed it has 4p co-op, which sounds both awesome and possibly way too hectic to pull off. There's Mars Matrix, also for the Dreamcast. Before Giga Wing 2 and between Giga Wing, there was this; it's Giga Wing in space (similar mechanics and all). The Dreamcast version is superior to the arcade version for a variety of reasons, and Mars Matrix doesn't work right in emulators yet. It's worth buying.
Question: Has anyone here played Wyvern Wings? It looks like an okay Psikyo clone, by the awesome Semicom. Is it worth playing, etc.

You think the HRAP-EX is better than the SFIV stick? I'd like the HRAP-EX I just want to verify that it *will* work with PCs. It would just be nice if I could verify it before buying one. Also, can anyone who owns one also verify the durability of it? I found this... http://boards.ign.com/street_fighter/b6376/179226361/p1 Although given its IGN, and the thread quickly descends into console wars...

So anyone have a HRAP-EX?
What sticks are you all using with ShmupMAME?

Re: One Answer Question Thread
I don't know if an ADHD person would be in a better state of mind while taking Adderall and playing shmups, but I can tell you that a person without ADHD that takes Adderall will have increased performance because Adderall is basically speed.ratikal wrote:You think having ADHD would have a effect on playing shmups? Take it from me, drugs are bad.
But as Yoshino said:
Any potential performance enhancer can be wasted energy if you lose self control and just turn into a screaming ball of hate. So I imagine if an ADHD person gets too involved in a game to the point of maniac frustration, it will end up being wasted potential.Yoshino wrote:It will improve your ability to perform, but not necessarily your actual performance.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

I use the HRAP EX to play Crimzon Clover (and every other doujin I've tried except for PatriotDark...won't work there for some reason) and it works fine. I do use Xpadder, though. I couldn't get it to work without xpadder, but I'm not the most knowledgable about hardware issues like this anyway.Yoshino wrote: 1) Can I use the Hori Real Arcade Pro EX (for Xbox 360) joystick to play doujin/MAME on my PC?

I actually just assumed the stick I bought was fairly rubbish compared to the crazy expensive ones I see going around. Then again, I haven't looked into modding it or anything either. Works great for me thoughYoshino wrote:You think the HRAP-EX is better than the SFIV stick? I got a question. Do all the Sega Genesis models use the same power supply? From what I can tell they should be interchangeable, but I thought I remembered reading that they had their own for each model

Kinda different question: Are the cave shop instruction sets (not the toresetsu) actually the real pop and stuff you'd find in the kit? It'd make sense with the pcb recycling and stuff I guess, but just wondering...

If that's the Japanese re-release then no, there's only 1.1 and MBL, and MBL 1.1 as DLC for 240 Japanese MSP.apple arcade wrote:Does DS Platinum Hits version have MBL 1.1 on the disc or just MBL?
