Wow, that's a beast. I had the pleasure of shooting a Barrett 50 cal at a range back home a few years ago. These young military bucks were out their shooting and after we had watched them for a while they offered to let us have a go. To my surprise, it kicked no more than a shotgun would. This is do to the muzzle breaker which channels air back toward you as the bullet exits the barrel. The force of the air acts to counter most of the kick. Without that, you could kiss your shoulder goodbye

I would think you would want to purchase jacketed slugs and just re-use the shells? I thought people only melted their own shot for muzzle loaders
