@Stormwatch: The problem is... I can't let go... I'd have to part with one of my self-made sticks, and that would hurt too much. Either this, or it would be way too expensive for anybody to buy. :-)

I just won a RAIDEN DX PCB on ebay for $202.50 plus $15 shipping. I was hoping to get it for cheaper but what the hell. I had to have it.

Thanks, I had emulated these all before but WOW to actually play the real thing is great. I'm really enjoying Super Metriod and Zelda right now. I think I prefer F Zero to Mario Kart but both are fun.

Super Mario Allstars is a great way to have the "Lost Levels" and the new sprites are fun after playing/owning all the originals.

The SNES version of R Type seems a little different from the arcade.

I just hope these batteries don't go bad while playing the games. I really hate the notion of having to desolder them. Batteries are sort of a mixed blessing with old carts, on one hand they are replaceable forever on the other hand, they are a pain in the ass to desolder.

Yes sir! Such a great game. I don't know exactly what it is but it has a certain charm. I can't think of any other game that has it the same.
I have it for my GBA. I think it's gonna help me survive the LONG trip to Japan.

Finally bought a candy cab this month. I was having sync issues with my cmvs/supergun on my hdtv, and thought about getting a xrgb but in the end decided to just put that money towards a cab.

IIRC, Super R-Type is kind of a mash-up of R-Type I & II, with levels from each interspersed and a few things changed up.

With those PVM monitors, do you have to have a degassing magnet to tate them? Or would you be able to get away with just pulling the plug and waiting a bit?

Much like arcade monitors, they have a degauss button.

Hmmmmm... I have seen pics of PVM's with a bank of control buttons on the back of the unit. Perhaps this unit is different?

It might also be located in the system menu or on the remote control, like on an XM29.

I believe all PVMs degauss automatically on powering-up.

On my 29" PVM the degauss 'button' is found in the settings menus. Just pressing select activates the degauss.

ah yes, mine has these. from what i got the one that says "V hold" might actually be degaussing, since it's visual effect is similar to what i read on wikipedia about degaussing. but i really don't know ...

V hold is 'vertical hold', nothing to do with degaussing. The pics I have seen you should have another button nearby the 'vhold' button that says demag or something like that.

I apologize, I am going off of memory of pics I have seen. I don't own a PVM, just an XM29.

V Hold, H Center (Digital RGB), Picture (RGB), Bass, Treble

obviously none of them are for degaussing, though. i really only had any hopes for v hold

and without a remote there is no way to get into the settings menu?

Have you perhaps tried a universal remote? You would have to find the right code online to get it to interface with the PVM but might be worth a shot?

Does the screen have color/geometry issues or do you just want to know about the degauss function for the knowledge?

yeah the colors introvert all around the middle of the screen when i try to tate it.

i didn't think any universal remotes would work with these monitors, gonna check on my uni remotes manual.

btw since i'm on about my monitor. when i have it running and there's an input source the crt is currently set on showing, it does a very noticable buzzing sound. my brother who used to work at a repair place for tvs and stuff said it's probably electricity sparking over, which seems to fit in with what google tells me when i check for crts and buzzing sounds.
anyone know if this is something i should be worried about? i only got it recently and it'd be bad luck for me if it just went and died.
