Since there's no "cool stuff you've just MADE" thread, I'm posting this here. I'm not the first person to do this, I got the idea from the interwebs like every other electronics project I've done lately. Maybe one day I'll come up with something original... Anyway, it's an MP3 player inside a NES controller. The player is a 4GB model from COBY. The player itself was only $20, but I killed one in the process, so I ended up spending about $40 total for this mod. Unfortunately it runs off one AAA battery so it's a bit inconvenient to change batteries out at the moment but I plan on adding a battery door from a TV remote.
The up/down buttons are for volume. Left/right are for track skip. A button is for play/pause/select and you hold it for power on/off. B button backs out to the main menu. Start and Select have no function.
The insides don't look so attractive since I used liberal amounts of hot glue to hold everything in place. But when it's closed up it's very solid and works great.
