Haha, I was referring to modern systems, I guess, I know about the Garegga port. And that port was fairly timely, it came out about 2 years after the arcade debut, which isn't really a "re-release" it was just the first port.
Also, it's pretty cool that the Garegga cover art is still part of the main image on the Eighting official website: http://www.8ing.net/index.html
It also looks like they've been making a bunch of cell phone ports of all their old shmups with some thing called "Easy Appli" including Garegga: http://www.8ing.net/02-06.html
Looks like you know more than I do.
I can't imagine seriously playing a game like Battle Garegga on a pathetic cellphone for anything other than a gimmick though. Maybe we should get a group of us to email them like people email and twitter Cave whenever something's not up to scratch and get them to make a 360/PS3 port of their old games?

EZ Appli is for au phones (KDDI/EZWeb), iAppli is for Docomo, and S!Appli is for Softbank. Looks like most of these are pretty old, though, Souky and Great Mahou were only available for my previous phone (secondhand 814SH) and the rest are older than that.

I was just thinking this as well. I can't help but feel that most cell phone/iPhone ports of games are just that, cause most of them just aren't fun to play. The CAVE ones and a small handful of others are very good when they're done well and have a good control scheme, but a lot of them just end up terrible.

That makes sense. A few friends of mine have KDDI service, but I don't think they would care to try out any of these games. And it did look like they were for pretty old phones, which would probably just make things a lot worse than if they were on a more modern platform with more responsive controls and better hardware capability to run the games.

How is a week later fast?
Kotaku's news was published on 7th of December, check the date. That very same link was posted in this thread's page 7 and was in fact the first link revealing the regionfreeness that was posted in our forums.
Moving on...
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
I know this has probably already been answered so I apologize in advance, but do all first print runs of MMP/PS 360 come with the Cave Festival DLC, or is it just the LE that comes with it?
I usually pass on the Limited and just get the Standard Edition, but I'd hate to miss out on a game mode :\
ED: Okay, EOJ said both first prints come with the DLC card. Sorry!
ED 2: VVVVVVV Yeah, that's why I asked initially. I'll just go on faith and assume that EOJ knows more about it than they do. It's what Cave has traditionally done with their DLC cards, and I don't really want to risk having to wait a few extra weeks to play my game. So here's hoping.

Well, for past releases it was always First print run of both Standard & Limited Editions.
From what I've heard for the PS/MMp bundle however, NCSX has said that only the LE will have the DLC code
I take it theyll be no other way to get hold of this extra content other then these DLC cards, just like with futari, or will it also be available to buy later?

That's the assumption as it's been the case with Futari, Deathsmiles, Deathsmiles IIx and DFK.

NCSX are probaby covering their arses in case you don't get the first print run. I'd get the LE if you absolutely must get the DLC, and it does sound pretty spiffy.
I've pre-ordered both the SE & LE through Play-Asia just to be sure. I'll cancel one of the orders once I know the exact status of the region coding and other such business. Certainly looking forward to it anyway.

It's been confirmed that it is Region-Free. NCSX has it on their page along with many other sources stating it.

It's been stated that it's region free by Cave themselves. That ought be good enough.

I'm happy this is region free but how come Cave made this sudden u-turn? Didn't they say that they won't be releasing any more region free games? Daifukkatsu should have been region free!!!
Anyway I still haven't decided if I should preorder this from play-asia or pay more to vidoegameimports and have it duty tax risk free.

I would say that it's quite likely they may have some deals in the works to localize DFK outside of Japan. With this game, they probably figured it wouldn't work out as well overseas.
Probably, yes. When I asked them about dfk being region-free, they returned that I should ask risingstargames (European Publisher of Deathsmiles). So, DFK and maybe even ketsui should be released outside of japan in the near future.

If Ketsui gets a XBLA release like Guwange I'll buy it. It seems that the only Cave games that ever come within my reach of buying legally are ones published on XBLA worldwide. Otherwise I always have to bloody import.
This being region free is the best Christmas present I could have ever asked for. I'd given up hope completely
I'm going to have to preorder this within the next day or two...What exactly is the deal with the LE? Should I worry about having the LE locked like Galuda2?
1CC ListTo miss is human; to rank control, divine.
Im pritty sure both LE and SE are region free. Its only esp galuda 2 where the LE version is region locked to japan only. And that was due to Cave right at the last minute decided to go RF but the LE discs had already been sent to the manufacters and wasnt changed. (Imo the last minute chage to RF was due to the online petition this forum and the french shmups forum were running, folk are genrally sceptical about online pertitions but depending on what it is can actually work in some way, even if its just to inform the developer/ publisher that theres a market out there that wants something)
I finally CAVE'd in (pun intended) and preordered the LE. The content seems like it might be decent and the extra mode is tempting enough, plus I figure this one release where the LE's might actually be pretty hard to find not long after release since so many region-free faggots will likely be buying it. Now just to wait 2 more months..
