Where did Cave mess up the US release of DS? I know they fixed some things to stay more true to their vision, so I'm lost as to what you could be referring to!

Check out these videos comparing arcade to the US 360 Mega Black label modes and decide for yourself. Personally, I think until you reach the boss, the intent to remove the slow-down is good. It appears to be manageable for most of the stage and otherwise I suspect it could be moreso with more practice. The issue is of course the original (arcade/import) versions are easier and therefore make it easier on those who play them making it unfair. I don't give a rats ass on DeathSmiles but I can see the idea Cave had wasn't a total failure with respect to the slow-down removal, just not comprehensive enough.
At least people don't have to worry about this with PS&MMP although perhaps they'll [mess]-up the slowdown in those games from the get-go as the region free nod seems to signal it won't be reaching our shores localized.

Not that it matters to me as I have a J360 but it will make a lot of people happy and I guess I like to see people happy.

That's good news for those that don't own a J360. Given the release date, I've got a friend that's gonna love it. Perfect birthday gift for someone that likes shooters

Re: Pink Sweets & Muchi Muchi Pork bundle - Xbox 360!!!!!
I hope my email influenced this as such.
I basically said that the majority of shmup fans are not in America, and the amount of people who imported an American console to play NTSC/UC Deathsmiles can be counted on one hand.
I also mentioned that "people wouldn't want to do this, when they could simply import a Japanese 360 and JP-only titles" so they "don't have to wait for titles to be localized". Also went on to say that "region-free titles give PAL gamers (then listed the areas) the freedom to import", and to put things into perspective, "PAL areas still don't have Deathsmiles / just because a localization for the US is confirmed or released, doesn't mean a PAL release will ever come to light".
Can the OP update the thread with the news?

That is indeed a good news, hopefully the sales will be good enough to justify next releases region free. I just don't understand why they didn't release new Dodonpachi region free, this is one of the most popular cave games, right?
Anyway I spent a fortune on a ntsc-j 360.

Oh boy here we go, every new Cave release from now on will have us guessing whether its profitable enough to be localized or go the RF route.
Great news for non-J360 owners, doubling the number of RF Cave games now!

Re: Pink Sweets & Muchi Muchi Pork bundle - Xbox 360!!!!!
Deathsmiles on all Level 3 + EX stages is normal Cave difficulty, i.e not easy IMO. So you clearly just need more practice on Futari and Galuda II since it's really not that difficult to beat stage 3 in either game after some practice. In fact, if you can reach the final boss on DS, I'm surprised you can't do the same on Futari 1.5 Original.Estebang wrote:Yes.drunkninja24 wrote:Are you doing EX stages and everything on Level 3?Estebang wrote: On the contrary, I say they improved it. Call me cynical but I doubt any amount of feedback had anything to do with the decision. I think this game was always gonna be region-free (for reasons already mentioned in this thread) and this whole feedback thing was just a way to hype the game and drum up interest.Drachenherz wrote:

This is great news!
I've really been on the fence as to whether or not I want to purchase a Pink Sweets PCB. The game looks fun to me, but with so many "love/hate" comments I really wanted to try it out first before I took the plunge.
Now I can
P.S. Topic Creator should probably change the topic title to include the Region Free information

Re: Pink Sweets & Muchi Muchi Pork bundle - Xbox 360!!!!!
I sent Asada a second email thanking him. I believe he saw how poor Ketsui and the newest DDP sold compared to Mushimhime and Espgaluda2 sold and decided to do. Given that MHSF1.5 was the best selling CAVE game per media create (besides DS) on 360 opening week I'm sure this was a pure business decision. My guess is the email thing was just to push him over the top he was probably 99% of the way there.
I pre-ordered the LE so hopefully it won't be like ESP2. But I think ESP2 was region locked on limited cause the standard region free was a last minute choice not a planned idea like this or MHSF1.5
Also 2 games in one helps me swallow the $120 price tag on play-asia. Plus I to this day regret not getting the LE of MHSF 1.5.

You are probably correct. I doubt we would've heard anything if they hadn't already made their mind up. It will be quite interesting to see how the sales trend and if the import business really has an impact.KisakiProject wrote:I sent Asada a second email thanking him. My guess is, that region free games definitely have an impact on sales. I mean, it opens up the market of potential buyers from japan to potentially the whole world... It would be interesting to see the stats of, let's say, Mushi Futari and DDP DFK. My bet would be, that a region free game sells more copies, just because of the much much larger potential user base.njiska wrote:You are probably correct. Re: Pink Sweets & Muchi Muchi Pork bundle - Xbox 360!!!!!
Per Media - Create DDP DFK sold at 24th place with no number listed. The 20th place sold 12,000 so its >12,000. MUHSF 1.5 Sold I believe (17,000) opening week. If someone has a media-create data they can confirm that. If someone has the records could they back me up. But I'm 99.9% sure both ESP 2 and MHSF place higher on the charts then Ketsui of DDP DFK did. So its just sound business.Drachenherz wrote: My guess is, that region free games definitely have an impact on sales.
