the added possiblity of scanline emulation in Futari aside, from a technical standpoint Guwange and Futari (Arcade) look exactly the same (on a 16:9 LCD). Same resolution, same everything....It looks like crap on my widescreen LCD while Futari looks flawless.

Yeah, something's gotta be up. Guwange looks absolutely flawless on my widescreen LCD.roker wrote:It looks like crap on my widescreen LCD while Futari looks flawless.
This issue affects everyone's monitor, regardless if it's LCD or CRT.

I played several credits in a row where I bit it on the last pattern of the last boss form. I thought my head was going to explode.Taylor wrote:No missed that last pattern down to a damn pixel and got hit.

I was thinking that just the other day.

I love this hobby, but what a pain...gah...not even to mention the price.

I'll check it out again. I use an LCD monitor through VGA if that makes any difference.Fudoh wrote:the added possiblity of scanline emulation in Futari aside, from a technical standpoint Guwange and Futari (Arcade) look exactly the same (on a 16:9 LCD). I'll take a pic of Futari for comparison purposes.

Re: Guwange 360
without taking pictures, here's what I came up with:
1680 x 1050: Playing Futari and Guwange will lead to bars on both sides and top to bottom.
640 x 480: Playing Futari will fill in my screen to the best it can (using only zoom, no stretching or anything). Top and bottom are filled to the max; looks phenomenal. Guwange in resolution gives me bars on the side and bars on the top and bottom
Now the interesting part:
1360 x 768, 1280 x 768, and 1280 x 720: Guwange will have NO black bars on the left and right (yay!), but there's no way I can fill the top and bottom. This is the best way to play the game and after doing it this way I got farther in the game than before due to bigger size of the playing area.
I have pictures if anyone needs them for reference, but if anyone with an LCD widescreen monitor is having a hard time getting the best out of this game, tone it down a notch and see if that works out.
It should be noted that my monitor maxes out at 1680 by 1050. It's a 21.6' (odd size?) Samsung 216BW.

Re: Guwange 360
Not quite with my monitor. It might have something to do with the odd size, but I still get a 1/2' of wallpaper on each side, unless I mess with the "free" setting but I'm afraid that'll stretch it out a bit on the y-axis. 640x480 is still the best option for my monitor.gs68 wrote:Futari fills the entirety of a 1280x1024 screen, with no black bars.

Re: Guwange 360
Does anyone know the what the "default" values for shot/shikigami power are on different stages? I'd like to do some practise runs on stages 3 and 4. For some reason there's no stage default

Re: Guwange 360
I've been super busy with work since last week and I've literally had about 5 runs on this so far but it's great. I'm playing on a 57" Hitachi CRT Projection TV and it looks great, even without the HD facelift/character remodeling that games like ESP, Mushi, & Death Smiles received. Considering that I can now play this comfortably on a console now (as opposed to on Mame) it's more than worth the $10.

Re: Guwange 360
That looks like a ergotron neo-flex stand, do you think a 23" 16:9 would fit it in portrait mode? From reading up about it, it seems it would fit but I just wanted to make sure.
Re: Guwange 360
It's actually a rotateable Dell monitor with the 360 hooked up by VGA. The whole thing is one unit.
(And if it wasn't obvious, I was just joking around when I said "Problem solved")

I must be outdated
, I just realized it "would" available on 360
, and it had already been released.
Well, it is good that I don't have to wait.
Can't wait to go back home and download it.
Any Cave 360 games that I might miss?

I just got one that says "up to 30" and am using it on a 22 16:10. I do believe it would do a 23, but just barely. No way in hell would it go up to 30. If it works, it's great. I love it.

Re: Guwange 360
What I like the most about this game is the level design. It's a good change up from the norm, how you change directions throughout. Also, that there are many corridors and other tight spots that do well at putting pressure on you. The levels seem fresh and creative, well fresh to me, even if the game is rather dated at this point. The third and sixth levels are standouts in my opinion.
Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned mid-bosses, and I kinda laughed it off. But, after thinking about it, there really is, well sorta..They're just super easy. The first stage, the guard tower, the one that is elevated that have guards coming out of it, then when the wall breaks they rush out. The second stage is more apparent with the slug-whale. The third stage, well I'm not too sure on what's obvious, I'm going with the hidden witch-worm that pops out of the covered well after the statues. Still, it's super wimpy. The fourth stage is the only one that feels like a mid-boss, the big ass worm that busts out of the building and bites a horse in half. The fifth stage, I have no clue, nothing really stands out to me, and I would like to hear it if you have any ideals. The sixth, I'm going with the boat, this can be a really tricky spot for me, I always have to dash far right along the wall dodging demons and preying not to die. Sooo, yeah. Mid-bosses, if you have some thought of this please share.
