They were one and the same all along, which is why the feud between the two is so surreal and scary.

So did EOJ become Icycalm or what,
They were one and the same all along,
The latter is conducting an experiment to see how far he can push being over the top and a prick at the same time. He realizes he gets more hits on his articles as such, and that is all he really cares about. It's the internet version of button-pressing humor.

And, as I'm the only one here that knows both of them personally, I will say that they have no personable flaws. Icy has taken his online persona to the next level, which is fine and dandy, even though I'm apparently deemed expendable in that adventure. The few times I met him, it was a fine time. EOJ probably just got sick of pruning the forums... he stated long ago he doesn't like the admining side. I'll admit, it sucks...especially if you're not technologically inclined. So, blocking them off is a logical step. I put in all sorts of bot protection but they still get through. And let's face it, I'm a computer genius.

Actually they now drop about 90% of their information at matsuri events, if you can stomach them. To quote NTSC-J, "all integrity checked in at the door". The TGS you get to try out their upcoming console ports at the Microsoft booth, and the last AOU show they didn't even participate in.

Yeah, that's actually bullshit. I like all kinds of shmups, but Cave are clearly not overrated at all, they're fucking awesome.
This is about a forum, lets not start bashing the last true champion of the genre.
Bashing?

I love Ibara, Pink Sweets etc but they get a whole lot of "suck" comments. That's bashing. Saying I rate them too highly acknowledges they have merit but allows a subjective counter-opinion to be raised without causing offense.

Which makes sense in my head.

The difference between a fan and an obsessive is that the latter is easy to troll. :)

Even with an entire discussion bemoaning the faults of a completely different individual, you somehow always manage to steal the limelight.

Magic.

Basically, if you don't live in Japan, you don't know JAC?

Sounds like a good thing.
You've done well.

Regarding the smups-cave-shooters-forum-You could be on the right lines. I reckon it doesn't live in Japan anymore so it can't feature anymore and it knows it. New information must be bare there now. That's the situation:

I was a tad bummed out to discover this, but I also can understand his decision. What I can't understand is that EOJ has admitted that he started his Cave love affair with Mushi, which to me seems like he is a fairly newcomer to the Cave camp. Funny how quickly someone can turn elite and abandon so many people who were playing Cave games long before him. Oh well, I guess this is what happens when you like Deathsmiles 2 a lot and everyone else is appalled by it.

I'm always happy to see newcomers to the forum, despite there silly questions. If you know how to communicate, even a lame thread can generate some decent discussion if people aren't being jerks.

We've stepped out of the boring world of stale troll/anti troll internet drama and into the exciting (if a bit stilted and sanctimonious) realm of furry porn artist community level queening here.

Now where will I go to learn that Guwange isn't out yet and what the hot new reason the DOJ patch has been delayed is?

True fans limit the games they play to only one company.

Damn, I just realized my membership at CAVE-STG was revoked. I know I wasn't contributing much, but I thought it was a useful site and EOJ is a cool dude from whom I've learned a lot. I can't believe the site is better off in a hermetically sealed form, but maybe it's better for EOJ psychologically. He's a pretty serious guy, and may not have the stomach for the more casual participants.

I agree it is his forum so he can do what he wants with it. But it does suck that the wider community loses all that info on the games themselves. While i dont know the guy or read his mind so i dont know for sure his reasons are it but it does smack of elitism to anyone not in his Clique. Still it is the internet and we are all e-peens to some degree

And about this forum sure theres allot of new folk joining all the time and many of the thread can be trivial but what folk forget is that they dont have to read the damn things just pick and choose the threads that look intresting. Ild rather have some trival bs thread then nothing atall cos it helps get everybody posting and feeling part of the community. Also its worth remembering that the search function is a pain to use especially for someone whos new and only just getting their feet wet.

Like Bloodfloiwers has already said What EOJ could do to remember is that open forums like Shmups and Cave-stg of the past contribute allot to keeping his beloved Cave alive by giving an hub for newcommers to go to, chew the crud but also grow into full blown fans due to the more serious aspects like advanced strategies and scoring of which EOJs guides contributed to

With a small forum like cave-stg, you never feel "God, why isn't there an "ignore" option so I can unsee all posts from this idiot". But for a forum like shmups, it would mean that new items would be reposted all the time because of people ignoring each other.

i signed up to cave-stg a while ago, never posted though, and wondered why i can no longer access it - so thanks for the info guys. i didn't post because i'm not that good at the games and generally don't know anything new/worth saying over what's already been said so wanted to avoid posting crap (pretty much same as i do here), but it was a good source of strategy/scoring guides and info on cave games that i'll miss not being able to access. i've only had limited communication with EOJ in the past but he seems like a nice guy tbh.

GaijinPunch - RE: Click-Stick Forum - I think it was just TWITCH who was stirring that one, naming the forum Clique-Stick. but to be honest he wasn't too far wrong. There were also certain members of that forum who were anti shmups forum and a bit elitist towards the whole Cave thing.
I liked Mush and posted quite a lot about it on Click-Stick, but I'm always wary of fan-sites as opposed to sites that are open to all 2D Shooters.

Should I start listing threads that were interesting and got totally shit on by various dick heads (and some ultimately locked?)
Click-Stick or the more aptly named Clique-Stick.
Maybe I wasn't quite so knowledgeable at the time, but I never saw it an issue until certain long-term members here started shit-stirring.

Also, when there is an easy portal for new registration.. there can be a considerable bit of maintenance involved with that. If life starts to make it difficult to dedicate the time to all of that, you have to either find some assistance.. or you batten down the hatches.
I understand where you're coming from. I formerly managed a back-end private forum for some stuff. Though deleting this accounts shaves of 1-3 kilobytes in a Mysql database where user information doesnt get beyond 5Megabytes. Most of us lead busy lives and the ones who are parents are even busier. Can't frequent all the 10+ sites of some of our favorite hobbies. Between shmups and potential RPG sites I am not aware of I'd be drowning in information with not enough time to 'see it all'

I'll frequent this website in shadow mode but rarely post. So I guess that makes me a moron. I use twitter to keep me up to date on most of my news stuff . I only found out about this was via a tweet. I've signed up on cage-stg but the way they have their forums formatted out made it feel so un-user friendly. As far as content 'stolen' I have no idea. Just as long as credited to article as read on cave-stg.com I would imagine that would help drive more community members to his site. But I think he needs to revamp his site a little bit.. Just my 2 yen.
