People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
There is a dude in the NA version named Tyjet Poison who only uses Sakura, and he has everyone of his replays glitched. I understand not wanting to upload something if you think you know some 'ancient chinese secret' or soemthing, but when someone downloads your replays, and you fucking die on the first stage, I think you're a fucking tool.
Is this dude just some dirty glitcher?
How are they even doing this?
The replays in DOJ do the same thing, but that's the busted server's fault which the patch should fix.

Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
that's strange, all his replays have him dying on the first stage for me.
Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
Never heard of him.
I really doubt skilled players of the US version would not be members of this forum.
Can you upload the replay? I'm interested in seeing it for myself. And if it is just a desync error, it should be pretty obvious (character stops moving, veers to the left or right, etc).

I've downloaded his replays on two different system, they are glitched for me in both MBL modes, he dies on the forest purposely.
Not calling him out, just seem deliberate and I'm curious how they're doing it, since you don't have to upload. Seems like a silly way to fuck with people who think they're downloading your replay.
The only reason I even cared to watch his scores as he bumped me down to 2# on a couple boards and I was curious to see his run. I don't even use Sakura (he does) so if he's scared someone is gonna copy him, I'm definitely not.
I have a run that can beat him anyway, so I guess I'll just put that up and see if he beats me again with a glitched replay.
Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
If you no miss the first 6 stages the rank is higher for the last / last two stages. Maybe he just suicides on the first stage on purpose to keep the rank lower?

Dude, did you read my post? He has a game over on the first stage in all his replays. You don't even see his run.antares wrote:If you no miss the first 6 stages the rank is higher for the last / last two stages. Maybe he just suicides on the first stage on purpose to keep the rank lower?
Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
To tell you truth, I really don't know why it's happening. Most of my replays that I have on my hard drive that are not on the leaderboards are glitched too. I really want to know too because my 4 bil run stops moving right at the end at Ozier and I don't remember what I did after that.PsychoGun wrote:There is a dude in the NA version named Tyjet Poison who only uses Sakura, and he has everyone of his replays glitched. I don't have a recorder with me to post it here, but I can tell you want path I use and where the overall counter is.
I think this is the problem. I stop moving all of a sudden, then it goes back to the character selection, and then freezes. I doubt that aksys will provide a patch because they told me cave has control over that (I could be wrong on this).Elixir wrote:Can you upload the replay? I'm interested in seeing it for myself. I don't think this is accurate. The only thing that affects rank in the last stages is whether or not you entered death mode in the first six.antares wrote:If you no miss the first 6 stages the rank is higher for the last / last two stages. Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
Ive always wondered how replays genrally work. Im guessing that instead of a video what is actually recorded are controller commands so when a replay is been shown, its just like a normal run only the computer is playing itself with the recorded controller data.
That would explain why in Exceed 3rd JP black package, my replays will sometimes die and get a game over in a replay of a 1CC, if the replay is desynching or overwise not replaying the controller data in the exact way it was originally played.
BTW is this "desynching" a common thing?

Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
I've encountered it several times, on consoles and PC games. I'm pretty sure you're right about how they're recorded, as such I suspect even small system tics could interfere with the recording or playback (if the system records or plays back a button press slightly too early or late, the whole thing goes to hell rather quickly).

that would explain why you can play galaga or some early protoshmup during its attract mode without putting a coin in

Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
Does the same thing for me on some runs on the JP version. Shows a death where I didn't die.
Re: People purposely glitching deathsmiles replays?
Well, basically I have part in the code that takes in input. Input turns on commands like "s" ( shoot ), "u" ( up ), "l" ( left ) etc. When recording, I am recording this all this shit on files. I am pretty sure lots of developers do it like that. Like this:TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Ive always wondered how replays genrally work. There could be some interrupt sillyness messing it up, or just bad recording code.
You just can't tell w/o examining the code for yourself and running tests.
Which we'll never be able to do, so .. :: shrug ::
