I don't think this is really necessary, how many TVs or arcade monitors have you seen with Gamma correction? Both human vision and CRT displays are non-linear but it reasonably constant, and video game designers do take this into account.
and also a JAMMA socket like the 1st design so we can connect a JAMMA Fingerboard to the new Adapter for hacked Pads ?
In the new design, both the terminal blocks and 56 pin JAMMA edge connector have been replaced with a general purpose expansion connector. Expansion boards for terminal blocks (for pad hacks) and JAMMA connectors (compatibility with previous adapter) will be available, and easily changable. Expansion boards containing controller encoders are planned for the future.

I am sure my next request will be honoured. Can we have PCB feet on the next design please? The current model is hard to mount. Any dial controls should be mounted near to the male end.

Otherwise I am thrilled of your ambitions.

+1 on PCB feet or at least holes for 'em.

Sure would be nice to have holes to mount optional PCB feet for completeness in the upcoming 2nd revision of the famous Scart to Jamma adapter. Include some snazzy gold-plated PCB feet for that bling-bling factor.

Random arcade PCB Factoid: On the SSV platform, a typical SSV (Sammy, Seta & Visco joint-collaborated effort) motherboard uses capacitors in lieu of PCB feet for support. Might be a bit odd way of elevating a PCB a tad bit. On both my JPN & USA region SSV mobos, they're present indeed.

You're right about that. The only good mounting points are the ears on the female JAMMA passthrough, and even those require angle brackets.

The old version did have small rubber feet, primarily to protect the SMT components mounted on the underside. However, they don't help much if you want to mount them on a piece plastic/wood like what Monouchi has done.

I probably won't include PCB feet with the new version, but I'll make sure there are enough mounting holes available should anybody want to attach some. The new design will not be as ridged as the last, which had a big solid connector soldered along one side. I'm a bit worried about the amount the board will flex when SCART cables are often plugged in/pulled out -- probably won't be a problem if the feet are well secured to something solid.

Assuming this is what a standard PCB foot looks like, would anybody be able to tell me the diameter of the plastic part which connects to the PCB? I also need to know what size thread the screw is. The PCB layout is just about finished already and is densely packed as it is, fitting in the extra mounting holes will be a challenge...

Not sure really. Usually about the size of your average mans thumb width.

Its ok though, holes are good enough.

I assume from what you said before that the next pcb you do will have the modular design for the controller encoders?

It would be so much better having a design that works through jamma. At the moment I only want to mess with one cabinet because of the wiring involved. I can't be bothered.

They helped alot. :)
They are a tad higher than the SMT components and you dont want distance between the plastic frame and adaptor, cos of the force you use when putting in or pulling the scart.
I got extra long screws and replaced the 3 screws underneath and as a washer I used thick rubber tubing that was the same height as the rubber feet.

Then I put alot of double sided adhesive tape (made for cars) between the plastic frame and the adapter, helping out a lot with taking away the stress of putting scart in or out.

Hi.. Any news on the availability of the next revision? I'd like to get on your list if there is one.

I passed my V1 along because I wasn't using it at the time.

There are still too many variables (potential delays) to announce a release date.

I am keeping a list of interested people. If you have expressed interested in one in the thread, email, or pm, you're most likely already on it. The project is over a month behind schedule, and there may well be delays ahead. This is the first time I've dealt with a contract manufacturer so I cannot help but make a few mistakes.

Hey man, thanks a lot for the update.

I think folks are patient since the first run was such a well made device. But it's nice to hear that things are still moving forward. :D

I recently bought a used one (the first model, of course) from someone and it works great. I've successfully tested my 360, ps2, and pce with it and have had no problems. I just now got a Dreamcast scart cable and I'm able to get sound but no video. Any ideas as to what the issue could be? I've read that some Dreamcast scart cables don't go all the way in and are picky. I've tried adjusting and wiggling it and it doesn't seem to matter. When I turn the Dreamcast on, the screen flashes white very fast and then goes away, and then I hear the Dreamcast startup sound and can hear the cursor movement sounds when I move the joysticks.

hiya blazemore , i can get Dreamcast working with my Console to JAMMA Adapters i use an Official Sega Dreamcast RGB SCART Cable. Is your Dreamcast RGB SCART Cable Official as well ? if not possibly the non Official Cable is wired incorrectly.

If you have an unofficial cable or if you are not sure wether it is official or not, check the diagrams on this page :

I'm very sure it's not an official cable. I bought it from consolegoods in the UK for like $6. I just ordered an official cable from eBay and will see how that goes.

I am also interested in one of these, so long as someone has a good solution for the NTSC users on this board to get a signal into that SCART connector.

do you mean composite NTSC? RGB SCART from any capable console just works.

To get a signal into the scart connector, you just buy a scart lead. Approx 80% of all consoles support RGB SCART.

I've started to use my adapter as a PCB conditioner. I always had a problem with CPS2 boards needing adjustments to my monitor. It wasn't just a problem with brightness, but with color levels. I guess the clamp circuit in the adapter normalizes the CPS2 to be like my other PCBs. So I just connected it to a SCART supergun and ran the cable into the adapter. A Tototek PS2 to Neogeo adapter connects the controls just like I do with my consoles. It's kind of sexy having the Dimahoo on display outside the cab while I play it.
