As for arcades fading in the 90s, this was an American experience too. They never faded in the UK until 1994.

so there isnt a site out there that brings together all score from all the score keeping sites/magazines?

How hard would it be to make such a site? Im thinking weekly or monthly update with scores pulled from all major score keeping sites and magazines. Listing best to worst for each game and what site it comes from and ofcourse who set the score.

Twin Galaxies is just a bunch of people who thought it would be cool to setup a friendly competition. Friendly competition. They don't really give two-shits if there are greater scores. Its what can emasculate their little group to make them feel like world champions. I always found it odd that a site almost entirely based in North America has scores claiming to be world records.

I wouldn't go as far as calling them morons, as i am sure they know of such videos that blow-away any score on that site and obviously have a vision for the site. They are more interested in making the site more marketable by adding games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band to their itinerary.

apart from the bit where there was a television show, sponsorships for arcades and players and all kinds of other deals going on. Oh yes and the people coming from across the world in droves to play at that one arcade. This was pretty much from day one.
