If PS3/360 can produce these types of graphics, the PS4 will definitely replicate real life.

Damn... thats pretty.

Resident Evil is finally crawling over to the Microsoft machines eh? Craziness... maybe this go round Capcom will realize that you have to actually release good and non-expensive games on the console to sell games.

Perhaps it'd be wise to nip the "actual in-game graphics versus preview movies" issue in the bud? Is there any word on whether the above shots are either the former or the latter, or did I just miss it in the original post?

Its my understanding the game uses the RE4 engine from the cube (Cube and 360 share ATI's graphics chipset technology, obviously 360 is far superior, but somewhat compatible with cubes).

This is one of the first games to actually to get screenshots for either PS3 or XB360, so its quite amazing they have got it as good as this.. This is a very early build, expect it to look alot better mid 2006.

Mikigami is not working on RE5 (did he leave Capcom after RE4 over the dispute of a ps2 port?). The guy working on this is the same as the guy that did RE2.

If this is real - which it looks real enough - then we must be some of the first to know. I can't find anything else about this anywhere on the net - even on Capcom's Japanese site.

I heard that too. I think the graphical limitations of the port took away from the overall feel of the game. I read a couple articles that stated the ps2 version looked washed out and jagged as all hell.

Chances are these aren't in-game graphics. This is why Final Fantasy VII had so much attention at the time because everybody thought you'd be playing in a CG movie-world.

What's so unbelievable about this? It looks pretty much like you'd expect a next-gen followup to RE4 to look. If it looked much worse we'd have RE4 graphics, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the next gen to be more powerful than the previous one.

There have been screenshots I've rolled my eyes at and said "oh please" but this looks legit. Not a massive leap over what we have now, just a nice evolution.

It's not in-game graphics. Having a guy with his eyes half open as if he's just woken up with a hang over isn't a role you're going to be playing in-game. What, no eye-lid control?

Either way, it's relatively nice in terms of graphics. I wouldn't say they're real life quite, but it's definitely on it's way.

In-game engine != actual gameplay

Resident Evil 4 had plenty of cutscenes, complete with effects you didn't see during actual gameplay, but they were all rendered with the in-game engine. I don't think anybody is saying "wow, in the real game there'll be a button to shield your eyes." When people say this is in-game, they're referring to the engine rendering the graphics, and to me this looks like an advanced version of the RE4 engine on a new system. Considering what RE4 already looks like, and what Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 look like on current high-end PCs, I don't really see anything beyond the realm of possibility here for a new system.

Fake or not, I have no doubt we're going to be seeing games that look like this on the next systems.

Edit: Video up at IGN. Definitely looks real-time to me... Capcom's CGI is usually better.

There'll be a demo next week (on the 5th). For some strange reason it seems like the 360 demo will be released only in Japan, whereas the PS3 demo will be released in the USA.

Oh well, gotta play that then.

Apparently I read RE2 is on the cards for a remake on 360 and ps3 after this one is finished. I Think thats great. RE2 is the best RE that hasn't had a update.

where did you hear this from?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

The producer, while not confirming or announcing anything, did offer a very diplomatic comment regarding a possible remake of fan favorite Resident Evil 2. "You know, I think there is the demand for it. It's certainly something we would like to consider and think about," said Takeuchi

I would definitely check a remake of Resident Evil 2 out, because most of the games prior to REmake suffer from technological issues.
