I think that is the plan from what has been said on the blog. Never know, it could be something like Mushihimetama, puzzle games sell really well on I devices.Avatar Ignis wrote:nice!Elixir wrote:Dodonpachi Resurrection, available at the App Store August 26th, 2010!

I am looking forward to the port. The Galuda II port was really well done. And it is something to scratch the itch til Novermber!

Yea bescause the 360 is a far supperior mobile device, and no one even owns those iPhones/Pads... Oh wait they've sold millions?! 360 is not portable?! $80 price difference for the game too?!lol 360 port was announced. this thread became completely irrelevant.
Oh well, I think I'm one of the 3 people on the forum who is really pumped to have another slick shmup to play on my iPad. So happy the date is set so I don't have to keep checking every day.

yeaaaaah the more time I've spent on ESP2 lite, the more I realized Cave has a pretty good idea of how to do this whole mobile shooter thing. I'll probably grab DDP just to say thanks.

If they make money off the 100 people who buy the iphone versions, more power to them. I just hope they don't ever do something stupid and go apple exclusive for their ports, sort of like nintendo did with the gamecube and resident evil.

I seriously doubt they sold as low as that. If they did, they wouldn't be releasing more of the same games for the platform.

Ha, that's funny. 100 people.PsychoGun wrote:If they make money off the 100 people who buy the iphone versions, more power to them.
More like 20,000+ according to the Esp2 leaderboards. Hard to say how many people total have bought the app as those leaderboards are split up by iPhone/Arcade mode, then further split up by character used. Plus, I'm sure there are possibly people that don't post to the leaderboards.
Bottom line, Cave is definitely bringing in some revenue with these ports.

That's definitely a surprising number. But good for them, if it helps them fund more 360 ports/original coinop games, i'm all for it, even though I'd never game on a phone.subcons wrote:Ha, that's funny. 100 people.PsychoGun wrote:If they make money off the 100 people who buy the iphone versions, more power to them.

An iPhone is really a handheld computer that happens to have a telephone feature. Besides, I'm going to be playing mine on my iPod Touch, which is definitely not a phone.PsychoGun wrote:That's definitely a surprising number. Anyway, I'm thrilled it's showing up soon! Espgaluda II is the best thing on my iPod. It's not a replacement for a good stick and vertical monitor setup, but it's a fantastic way to kill some time while you're on the go. When I was waiting in an airport terminal for my flight a couple weeks back it sure was easy to whip out an iPod to get my Cave fix. Not quite so simple to bust a 360/monitor/stick, JAMMA rig, or Astro City cab out of my carry-on bag...
BTW, Espgaluda II iPhone mode is a fantastic arrange mode. Really fun scoring twist (Kakusei freezes your ship and allows you to tap bullets to erase them as a score multiplier goes up) that's very well suited to the hardware and shows that the creators really put some thought into it. Can't wait to see if the Daifukkatsu arrange mode keeps up the good work.
As for next iPod game, didn't Mushihimesama Futari do really well on Cave's poll? Would also fit with the Galuda II/Daifukkatsu pattern of having iPod versions of more recent vert scrollers that also have 360 ports.

Re: Next Cave iPhone port is Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu
I'm pretty excited as well. I hope they decide to bring Mushi Futari next. My one gripe about ESP was that I found it hard to manage the 4 buttons on the side of the screen. Futari will most likely only have 3 buttons in the advanced setting. It also seems like Cave worked hard on making new button arrangements for Daifukkatsu.hamfighterx wrote:An iPhone is really a handheld computer that happens to have a telephone feature. Re: Next Cave iPhone port is Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu
TouchGen just posted some impressions after hands-on with Dodonpachi, as well as 10 minutes of the first three levels (iPhone mode).
http://www.touchgen.net/dodonpachi-resu ... n-hands-on

Cave will be releasing Dodonpachi Resurrection, their next ‘Bullet Hell’ shooter, this Thursday (26th August)…
Like Cave’s previous shooter on the AppStore, Espgaluda 2, this game sees you in control of a fighter were you must survive wave after wave of enemies and their thousands of bullets and lasers, and of course slay the mechanical beasts. The game area is constantly packed with so many enemies and bullets of all shapes, colours and sizes, that it’s a wonder that the game still runs smoothly without any slowdown.
You control your ship via offset touch, similar to Infinity Gene, allowing you to see your ship at all times. As with the last game, and a stable of Cave’s shooters, your ship is equipped with awesome weaponry. This includes a hyper canon which, once powered up locks your ship in place, allowing only to be rotated to shower your foes in killer light. An added bonus to the iPhone version allows you to spin your ship in hyper canon mode as fast as you can, and once you release your finger, your ship unleashes a massive energy charge. There is also an arcade mode which is a straight port of the original arcade game.
An interesting gameplay mechanic in this shooter is that as you are dodging the bullets, you can dice with death and try and skim them to earn Menace points which fills your Hyper Gauge quicker. Think of it like getting bonuses for traffic near misses in GTA. It’s a fine line between earning power or losing all of it in one hit.
We’re having a tonne of fun with Dodonpachi Resurrection, so be sure to check out our review in time for release, where it will retail at an introductory price of $4.99 (£2.99). In the meantime we’ve grabbed 10 minutes of the first three levels of the iPhone mode for your viewing pleasure. Check it out.

slightly OT: did EPSGaluda 2 work flawlessly on the iPad ?? I don't have one, but a friend of mine does and have to admit, I'm intrigued to pay him a visit and buy EPS and/or DDPDFK to give them a try on his couch-surfing-device.

Haven't tried it on iPad. Here is a vid of DFK being played on an iPad (from the TouchGen article).

It works fine on iPad. It's better for controls, better for actually being able to see everything well.. and worse graphically since it's scaled up. But it still looks nice.Fudoh wrote:slightly OT: did EPSGaluda 2 work flawlessly on the iPad ?? Will the newest iTouch being sold currently be adequate to run both ESPgaluda II and DDP-R ports? And will the 8GB iTouch or the 32GB iTouch be a better bet?
Cool to hear that it's only a $4.99 USD d/l off of the Apple store for four days only.

Re: Next Cave iPhone port is Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu
The only iPod Touch models that run Espgaluda II are the 3rd gen (current gen) 16GB and 32GB models. The 8GB actually has different hardware, and is not supported. I would assume Daifukkatsu is the same story unless I hear otherwise.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Will the newest iTouch being sold currently be adequate to run both ESPgaluda II and DDP-R ports? It is on the Australian Store too, but when I try to buy it it says "Item is being modified, please try again later." It has said this for nearly 6 hours

It crashes on my iPad almost immediately.
Edit: It's Open Feint that's crashing the iPad. After it failed, I tried EspGaluda II and it failed too. Blew both away, reloaded... logged into Open Feint and now everything seems to work ok.
