I'm done anyways, I'll just hate on it over at cave-stg if the need strikes, everyone is on the same page there.I keep finding more and more reasons to wish this forum had a proper ignore feature.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

germany ... and no its that expensive here ... if you life in the uk or elsewhere it is cheaper. but thats not the point ...Ed Oscuro wrote:Where are you located?Lusche wrote:400$ ipod or 1000$ phone
Prison?
Even with a exorbitant fees schedule on your plan, phones aren't nearly that expensive. Not even to buy outright without a plan.
people bitching about games which arent region free and they cant play it because they dont have money for an import console but are happy that they release the games on an ipod/iphone which they own and thats why they are able to enjoy this ...
but how much is nowadays a fat xbox arcade after the slim release ? 150$ msrp ?
but enough bitching from me. i hope the game succeed and that there will be more games on apple mobile devices so that those who are playing it will be happy.
but dont forget the xbox users which werent so stingy and buying an REALLY expensive import console instead of a VERY cheap apple device.
i wont forgive cave if they announce that there wont be a dfk console release ... would love to see it on the 360 ... but i dont care if they will release on 720 or ps4, just release it !

A lot of people actually have real jobs and a genuine need for some kind of smartphone. I know without mine I'd be tethered to my desk 24x7.Lusche wrote: people bitching about games which arent region free and they cant play it because they dont have money for an import console but are happy that they release the games on an ipod/iphone which they own and thats why they are able to enjoy this ...

Besides, it's not just $200 for an Xbox. My importer sells the Arcade packs at $300+ and the new slim for $425. Then you need the actual games, which are $70-80 each. None of this is impulse-buy material. And no, I'm not buying a used terribly-unreliable-console from another region.

The iPhone is horrendously over-priced though. You can get a decent smartphone for considerably less.

Thanks for saying it so I didn't have to, brentsg.
Personally I might rather have a Droid, BlackBerry, or Palm OS device, because I don't really care to reward Apple for being control freaks, but I might shed some tears privately as I think that I will never play Enviro-Bear 2010, or any of the other low-cost programs for the iPhone that don't require sim or SDHC cards or expensive swap-in modules that nobody develops anything good for anyway.
And many of the cheaper ones have incompatible OSes (even within the same series or manufacturer), any given device doesn't have the same size userbase (not to mention users that would be interested in gaming - even before the iPhone people were gaming on their iPods; I know a lot of people bitch about Apple's development policies (i.e. arbitrarily kicking out high quality C64 emulators and other things) but they have gotten more applications behind their device, and so a lot more inertia), and don't have their own section on 1up (or whatever the site is that does that).bcass wrote:The iPhone is horrendously over-priced though. Well, Android is currently outselling iPhone, so it's not all going Apple's way. With a little more consumer-awareness, the iPhone could well find itself the minority device in a year or so time.
Anyway, the point is that you can spend a hell of a lot less and get most of the same functionality. And probably something made a hell of a lot better and will last a hell of a lot longer too.

Re: Next Cave iPhone port is Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu
I guess it's all relative. I certainly get a lot of value out of mine. And seriously, my contract was up. I sold my 2 year old iPhone for ~$200. My out of pocket expense for the new model is $200. Sure, I'm under contract again due to the subsidy but that's meaningless. I've had the same carrier for like 10 years anyways and it's not like they cut my rate after my subsidy period is over.bcass wrote:The iPhone is horrendously over-priced though. Droid should keep outselling iPhone if you have carriers doing "buy 1 get 1 free" and stuff like that. Plus from what I understand the Droid phones aren't all equal/compatible. But also note that the recent sales numbers captured a sales period where any iPhone customer "in the know" was waiting for the new model to be released.
I don't think we're going to see a winner in the smartphone business and we should all consider that a good thing. As long as consumers have 3 or so solid choices all with a deep catalog of apps everyone will be in good shape. I kind of see it shaping up like the console "wars" where you have a small handful of established options.

I agree..... see, we can agree at times and be on the same page. The iPhone is horrendously over-priced though. You can get a decent smartphone for considerably less.
I have friends that have one and most of the ones that do have the shittiest reception on it. That changes from region to region I'm sure but everyone has heard the jokes about it "doing everything but be a good phone".
Believe it or not you can have a real job and not use one also... (I never ran into imaginary jobs though, might have to look into that). A lot of folks use a real computer (laptop) for their real job and manage. I know I couldn't manage stock or inventory along with receiving orders without a real computer. Then a regular phone does a fine job of live conversation needs.A lot of people actually have real jobs and a genuine need for some kind of smartphone
I have a friend who works at GSK in their medical research department (makes about 40.00 an hour) and doesn't use his iphone for any needs there other than live conversations. I have heard him bitch about it more than anything else.

Ok let me try this again.
Some people are required to carry a smartphone for work. This is truth.
If you are in this position, you might as well carry one that does some fun things too. If I'm going to pay the flat rate for the data plan then I might as well be able to argue on forums or play some Cave games while I'm waiting to get my oil changed.

I have a feeling that this is just IGN dismissive of anything from Japan that they can't figure out so they made that shit up.most notably, a beverage labeled as being the "extremely dark urine" of Death Smiles character Windia.

Oh wait, yes I can. I refuse to buy a game like this on a platform where the controls are inherently imprecise.

I would beg to differ on the controls argument. Have you ever actually played Esp2 on iPhone? I was skeptical at first, but it works really well and is actually pretty damn precise. Maybe not quite as much as more traditional controls, but it works damn well.Cthulhu wrote:I like my MacBook Pro but I hate their Time Capsules, mine bit the dust after less than 2 years.captpain wrote:Let's argue about Apple products, y'all!!!!! I would totally get an iPad mainly for Cave shooters among other things, except I feel like the moment I buy one, Apple's gonna announce a 2nd-gen version and render the 1st-gen one useless. So even if I did have the money, I'd rather save up and wait.

Since Cave mentioned that RAM might be an issue, I'd wait until they bumped it to 512MB just in case they do some ports with improved graphics (vs. the phone version). It appears that the iPad is a hit in Japan.gs68 wrote:I would totally get an iPad mainly for Cave shooters among other things, except I feel like the moment I buy one, Apple's gonna announce a 2nd-gen version and render the 1st-gen one useless. 1st gen Apple products are crap and a waste of money since the final user is a beta tester of the product. Re: Next Cave iPhone port is Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu
The only bug that's been reported with the iPad was related to wireless connectivity and it was fixed with an OS update, so that isn't really accurate here. The iPad is an extension of the iPod Touch/iPhone.. with the screen technology from their Macbook Pro line. Other than physical size there's really nothing new here.Phellan Wolf wrote:1st gen Apple products are crap and a waste of money since the final user is a beta tester of the product. Anyone that says the controls aren't precise on Esp2, I just immediately assume that said person hasn't actually played the game themselves. It's a fair argument with touch games, but it just isn't the case with what Cave has done with their ports. They've done an excellent job on the controls.
