Sadly, I could see the rationale in expecting an arcade collection disc to be a flop for today's market. What would work a lot better is finding ways to emulate the games for the Virtual Console or XBLA, but it's pretty obvious that Nintendo/America and Microsoft barely give half a shit about raising the quality of those services for the old-school hardcore gamers that enjoy things like shmups, etc... Nintendo of America just wants to make sure they give everybody

Earthbound. To this day, I almost feel like the PC Engine version of
Gradius II was added by mistake. XBLA wants to make sure its arcade games never exceed the quality one might still find in the local bowling alley. These potential avenues need to be opened wider or Irem will have no reason to not keep themselves plenty busy making PSP strategy titles.
