I'd defintely give that a miss. Super R-Type III can be had used for less than US$10. I've seen several over the years at local game stores - the cheapest of which was $3.99.
Chrono Trigger is a great game! US$20 is about right for a complete Japanese version - and it's often US$10 or less for cart-only. Squaresoft did a great job localizing the game!!
Oh really? Well, nothing to worry about then. I've seen various Chrono Trigger cartridges with a "buy now" of $300 on ebay, and that is ridiculous.
I already have the strategy guide for CT. Even if it is ripped up and put in this protective-sleeve binder, it works. So this seems like a nice addition. I was thinking of buying the PSX version of Chrono Trigger, but no. Back in the times, I did some research on the psx version, and apparently it's just the same game with anime scenes which were added because they tried to make chrono cross' story suck less.
Personally I didn't like or grasp the interest of very many SNES RPGs. There's the forever ongoing battle of "Final Fantasy VI vs. Chrono Trigger" on GameFAQs and other areas, but there's something about VI I just don't like. Probably the world exploding.
I don't like RPGs in japanese unless they contain little text. Which basically answers your question there(if I did, I wouldn't be stuck at the first save point in Sakura Taisen 3 and have difficulties with it even with a translation guide.)
Another thing springs to mind, and that's Sonic 3. Yes, a Sonic 3 for Megadrive in japanese would be really nice. I'm still quite annoyed that this was stolen from my house the day after buying it, which took me half a year to do so.
A few days ago I ended up buying Disgaea from a friend who lives in america. It's going to cost $70 NZD and $50 in postage. 2 hours is all I've had with Disgaea, but it seems like a game which may take chrono trigger's #1 in my book. CT is of course, where my name came from.
Honestly I've never played R-Type III, or any R-Type games for more then 20 minutes. I always thought "Hey, spacecrafts should be intelligent enough not to slam into walls." but people don't always get what they want.
