Haha, that second S.Korea goal was great with the Greek players floundering after the guy.

Greece reminded me of England. In the 88th minute being 2-0 down, the Greek defense knocking it back and forth to their own Goalkeeper, whilst SK were substituting the whole team haha.. Thats the England spirit right there, you wait and see.

The mood between Britain and the USA is a bit broody because of the BP oil spill and Barack Obama giving it some. But as the English are desperate to point out, complaining isn't going to solve anything. Its a strange situation, since tonights game is just going to add fuel to the spill.. so to speak...

My money's on Spain to win it all, though. David Villa for the golden boot.

Poor old Nigeria, I think they actually played fairly well to hold off another Argentinian goal, they just had a weak defence. I really would have liked to see them steal a draw (I'm always the underdog supporter.)

Nigeria made Argentina look mortal, which is good news for England. Unless England make them look like Gods of course.

England game next up. I want to see a force to be reckoned with. No team has really shone for me yet, so England can be the first team to be feared.

Lets hope those ABE supporters have a lot of teams to support aye

Well, Nigeria didn't really do well against Argentina. Argentina had the ball, they had what shots they took on target, and when it comes down to it, Nigeria's keeper is awesome. Made some brilliant saves that would have destroyed another keeper.

Also, USA v England with my side losing by 1... F-F-F-FFFFFFUUUUUU!
Seriously, 4 minutes in, and a goal from nowhere!

Haha, check out Roberts Green wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Green

"Robert Paul Green (born 18 January 1980) is an English footballer who currently plays for West Ham United in the English Premier League and internationally for England as a goalkeeper. He fucking blows. Can't save shit. Lets in soft goals in exchange for hand jobs...notably from Clint Dempsey."

As predicted, not the easy game the press would have you believe.

England tactically inept most of the time , Rooney too busy covering holes to be effective, etc.

Heskey was great though - quite a surprise. Queue press blaming Green tomorrow so they can ignore we were utterly shite as a whole

Saved our asses though, the US couldn't control the ball for more than a couple seconds at a time [namely due to us fucking up simple passes].

Yeah both teams were a bit lucky really but overall I'd say England had the better game even with the score being what it was. USA did decent but god I thought their passing was dreadful.

we should do a guess the results game here :)

My predictions for tomorrow:

Algeria 1 - 1 Eslovenia
Serbia 2 - 1 Ghana
Germany 2 - 0 Australia

Magic moneys! I didn't know your cable internet bill got charged every time you tweeted...that would be a good way of cutting down on the rubbish there.

More seriously, wow, that poll is so pre-Green. Hours ago (I suspect minutes after it happened) lists like this were already popping up.

Funny the poll still being open. I can't guess who "other" is in this case  To continue through, our team definitely needs to draw more from their own side than from lucky assistance from the other team's goalie though.

At least they redeemed with some quality scoring chances in the second half.

I played soccer thru college and was a goaltender myself. I feel so bad for the guy. I recall one or two particularly dreadful days where I let a soft goal like that. They were meaningless really, but I remember them to this day. I can't imagine doing that on the world stage.

England better hope they're not left with stiffs like Carragher on their backline. Altidore blew by him on that run where Green pushed the ball onto the post. Personally I was surprised to see Green starting as I thought David James had locked things up. As much as I hate him and feel he's just sloppy and out of control most of the time, I thought Emil Heskey looked pretty good. Aaron Lennon I felt looked out of sorts at times as if he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. SWP looked pretty decent though. Milner obviously not so much.

Just so the world knows. ITV's HD channel accidentally showed a commercial break in the middle of the game. YEP, you guessed it, everyone watching the HD channel missed the England goal live.

Way to go with your High definition ITV!!!!!

Wasn't undeserved though. The US, especially Altidore, made some strong attacks in the second half, while England got pretty lazy and never became very dangerous. Seems like Rooney was the only one with any real fighting spirit.

There are some England positives.

1) England fought to go forward a lot more often
2) Pass backs to the goalkeeper were kept down (we know why now hehe)
3) England didn't lose, USA put up a decent fight and could of nicked the win with that hit on the post
4) There were a few signs of creativity. I liked the way Lennon whipped round the defense.

If Heskey had chipped the goally we would have won that game. I don't understand why he blasted it like that. The goally was in the prime position for a chip. Rooney would have taken it i'm sure.

Rooney showed a bit of fight, but he didn't have the ball that much. England are going to have to figure out that up to 3 defenders will cover his tracks.

Wrong.

Bar letting a goal in four minutes - and the opening minutes are always nervy and that does happen frequently - The US played a superb tactical game throughout. They had every single England player properly man marked and they really shut down England's hopes of tactical play. I was very impressed by how they stuck to formation - the only problem was they were so rigidly marking they didn't have too much strength in terms of building goals and I think the defence was on an equal level on both teams. But I have to say, every time the US broke for a goal or to take a corner etc, they would immediately revert back to their mark. Good play. Rooney was totally closed down.

England were a poor on the finishing. so many opportunities created and none capitalised. I normally don't rate Wright-Phillips - all he can do is run fast and lose the ball - but he had an okay game. I think Johnson was man of the match for me along with Landon Donovan, who's always really assured and pretty instrumental.

Rob Green: fucking donut.

Englands chronic goalkeeper problem comes back to haunt us once again, my gran could've saved that weak shot from Dempsey. Looks like we might end up using 'Calamity' James again.

Gerrard's goal apart, the quality of the shooting from England was atrocious, I know Heskey did well overall but he really couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo in front of goal, and most other efforts on goal weren't any better.

England: a dearth of talent in goal and not much cop up front either :(

at least the goalkeeper of algeria (the next opponent of england) is equaly clumsy: your gran could've saved that shot today as well
