I was like, "who cares", and then I saw it is done by ARC. BlazBlue! Well, it will look good. Very interested.
I have no idea if it's gonna be good, but those are gonna be some sweet graphics.gameoverDude wrote:HOT DAMN! Forget Contra Rebirth (probably). This looks like it's got potential.
SNK needs to make a Metal Slug 8 like this.
Yeah, same here. It doesn't look anything like Contra, but it clearly isn't intended to, so I'm pretty excited to see how (or if) they'll play around with the formula and strike out in new directions.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote: It reminds me of Dolphin Blue a lot.
I'm hoping for something that plays a bit similar to Contra 4, with or without the grappling hook.louisg wrote:Looks cool! If it doesn't play anything like CHC, I'm there!
Now that you mention it, Contra Rebirth wasn't that hot either. It makes me miss the days when 2D games were the norm and devs put effort on them.Elixir wrote:I'm skeptical of all XBLA releases now after that Zombie Apocalypse thing.
And that Rocket Knight thing, ugh.
Why can't Taito make good XBLA games?
or SNK
or Square-Enix
or Gulti
Exactly. This looks too cartoony..Obiwanshinobi wrote:Why can't they make a Contra game looking like Contra? Shattered Soldier did this much with polygons.
Then again, this one doesn't even have Contra in its titlemoonblood wrote:Exactly. This looks too cartoony..Obiwanshinobi wrote:Why can't they make a Contra game looking like Contra? Shattered Soldier did this much with polygons.
Who told it ever was dull brown and grey? Look around and Contra appears to be aesthetically and thematically quite impactful a franchise, emulated (maybe not directly) by many of most recent games. Konami can be forgiven for trying to do something different, but does it have Contra looks?Since when was Contra dull brown and grey?
This was you.Obiwanshinobi wrote:Who told it ever was dull brown and grey?
This isn't a Contra game so none of it matters. The article calls it a "spiritual sequel to Contra: Hard Corps" and a "homage to legacy Konami run-and-gun platformers". So far the only tangible connections we know of to any Contra game are the main character and what appears to be the spreadshot. The former means nothing as far as gameplay is concerned and the latter, while of course commonly associated with Contra, isn't exactly exclusive to that series.Earlier, Obiwanshinobi wrote:I hope it turns out good, but I miss the old graphical style. Accidentaly this style is emulated by countless mainstream shooty adventures of Brown & Grey these days, but Contra was there first and chances are it'll still be there even when the mainstream aesthetics move on.
Emulated with varying results I might add. I'm neither disdaining this style, nor calling it "dull". Personally I don't mind metal, concrete and brownish post-processing in my games.Ghegs wrote:This was you.Obiwanshinobi wrote:Who told it ever was dull brown and grey?
