few questions about raiden project.
few questions about raiden project.
these questions are about the japan version.
i heard that there's a was to turn off checkpoints on raiden 1, is that true? kinda sucks having them since arcade doesnt. or does the japanese arcade version use checkpoints?
has anyone ever 1CCed raiden 2? i wonder.
is there differences of difficulty between the US and japan versions, and arcade versions of both games? i know the US uses names like "captain" etc for the difficulty setting, the japanese version just uses normal, easy, hard etc.
ps: purple doesnt suck :p

Re: few questions about raiden project.
In the NA version you just go into the options menu and turn "Start Back Mode" to "Off". (Which is the default IIRC.) Apparently this option doesn't exist in the Japanese version. The vagrant wrote:i heard that there's a was to turn off checkpoints on raiden 1, is that true?

I've played Raiden 1 in the arcade a lot, and it dosen't have checkpoints. The US version of "Project" does give you the option to change though.
Yes, I have 1CC Raiden II, but I bumped it down one diff level.
There are 4 (with those military rank names I forget) I figured 2 out of 4 would be "normal", but apparently this is not the case, as the default normal diff in the arcade was kinda tough!
Keep "Project" default for "arcade style" play. Too bad you really can't "Tate" it! (control wise)
As far as "True Tate" goes...well I bought Raiden DX(JPN import) to cover that.
Still, my favorite version of Raiden is the one for the PC-Engine.

normal for jp version. im assuming the default us is equivalent, but id like to compare, and especially with the arcade, i really cant imagine anyone 1CCing it on defaults, shit fires before it enters the screen at savage speeds, and by "the screen" i mean the bottom.MNK wrote:What's the default difficulty for Raiden 2 on Raiden Project?
well you never know.
i recently learned that not the red nor purple sucks, both are well suited for certain areas, red however scores a little bit more. still looking for a use for the blue.
thanks for the replies.
ps: rye-then, and its not krotty nor num chucks :p

Purple is weakest weapon overall, but very useful in spots, and it's just really FUN.
BLue is strongest on bosses, and when you need spread, red rules evel 2boss is a classic examplle of whe spread is needed)Generally, you should have red+dumbfire or blue+homing, so one will make up fo rthe other's shortcoming. that said i've seen people 1cc the game going purple all the way. it IS doable.

I'm playing the PC version which has 4 levels of difficulty : Captain / Major / Colonel (default) / General. Colonel is very hard for me I havn't beaten the 3rd boss yet, and Major is too easy (got to stage 6 on my first try). The vagrant wrote:normal for jp version. im assuming the default us is equivalent, but id like to compare, and especially with the arcade, i really cant imagine anyone 1CCing it on defaults, shit fires before it enters the screen at savage speeds, and by "the screen" i mean the bottom.MNK wrote:What's the default difficulty for Raiden 2 on Raiden Project?
Blue laser is VERY effective when you go point blank on the bosseszaphod wrote:BLue is strongest on bosses, and when you need spread, red rules evel 2boss is a classic examplle of whe spread is needed).

It's possible to play Utimate Raiden 2 on PSX Raiden Project
I like to use my Super Game Wizard from Innovation on my PSX and use the USA PSX Raiden Project cheat codes that allow one to use all the major weapons & secondary weapons at the same time for a unique flavor of "Ultimate Raiden II" -- that makes even a gaming session on the original Raiden II PCB look tame. Of course, the end-stage bosses' life goes down faster when you have a cool combination of the fully-powered up weapons of Spread, Laser, and Snake weapons + Homing & Direct Missles to play around with.

Crap. So, US Version doesn't have tate controls (unless you gameshark it) and Japanese version can't turn off lame checkpoints.Zach Keene wrote:In the NA version you just go into the options menu and turn "Start Back Mode" to "Off". Err, what about the PAL version? I know it has tate, what about the Start Back option?
btw, they did a good job remixing music for Raiden.
I have Raiden Project (EURO-PAL)… You can disable the check points.
In Raiden 1 you can disable the check points for only as long as you respawn after losing a life, but if you use a continue, you start from a previous check point.
In Raiden 2 they can be completely disabled, even after you continue.
A far better respawning/check-point disabling strategy for both Raiden 1 & 2, is by using the 2nd player at the same time.
It's more fun blasting the 2nd player’s Napalm/Cluster Bombs at will... combined with the 1st player's Thermo-Nuclear bombs, is a shocking experience indeed.
You also benefit from having more lives too.
It’s possible to 1CC Raiden 2 as long as you use fully powered Wide Spread Shoots & Missiles (Not Heat Seeking) for the levels & then change to the Purple Plasma Laser for the Boss fights.
Have fun.
