Re: Espgaluda II
This is good news that makes me wanna punch myself in the head. Bought a J360 like 2 weeks ago, THEN Deathsmiles was announced, and now this.
As long as Ketsui is JP only I'll be fine with keeping my J360, but if not then DDP BLEX can go suck a dick.

Might have been since they were doing a faceplate? Given the scarcity of faceplates out there, I imagine that MS has some sort of certification process for them?StarCreator wrote: I don't think you're wrong necessarily, but it seems something in the production schedule required them to have the LE discs ready first. The most reasonable explanation is that it takes longer to pack the LEs and they needed more lead time to get all the planned stock boxed and ready at the factory so that it would make it out by release date.

Everyone in this thread recently talking about region-ness of this title is fucking hilarious.

Re: Espgaluda II
Exactly what I was thinking, pretty much. But certification process or not, the simple act of packing a faceplate into a box along with a game keepcase is a lot more time consuming (even more so if it's not machineable) than just putting a disc in a hub.adversity1 wrote:Might have been since they were doing a faceplate? Often, LE versions of games have different disc art on the actual disc than a standard edition. And the cover art is different as well, so it would only make logical sense to make your limited run of LE copies first. Its not "just throwing in a faceplate."StarCreator wrote:Exactly what I was thinking, pretty much. Re: Espgaluda II
I've already mentioned the different disc art. But different artwork on the case and disc don't incur any additional production time cost over the standard edition. That can't be the sole reason for the LE production needing more lead time.MachineAres 1CC wrote:Often, LE versions of games have different disc art on the actual disc than a standard edition. Maybe they didn't want to fuck it up like the last few LE's so they starting producing them early. I think that's the most logical explanation for why they'd put that into production early.StarCreator wrote: I've already mentioned the different disc art. Re: Espgaluda II
What was fucked up about the last few LEs? The only messup I know of was Play-Asia mixing first and second pressings with blatant disregard, and that's hardly something to fault Cave over.Acid King wrote:Maybe they didn't want to fuck it up like the last few LE's so they starting producing them early. Re: Espgaluda II
There's really no shame in having a J360 unit though, now you have 100% chance of a game working on your unit, instead of having to follow this region-free circus and be worried about it. As for localizations, you'll get to play the game substantially earlier than you would by waiting for a possible western release.Special World wrote:This is good news that makes me wanna punch myself in the head. Re: Espgaluda II
I remember the Deathsmiles LE being quite the debacle with sellers not getting enough to cover their orders. I can't remember how Futari's went but I would assume that the problems with the Deathsmiles LE would be the reason why they would start producing them early to make sure they had enough to cover themselves.StarCreator wrote: What was fucked up about the last few LEs? Right, but I spent like $300 on it. Plus I bought DS RIGHT before it was announced for release here, for double its release price, and without Black Label. It's just kinda shitty is all. I'm not crying or anything, but I'm doing a large :\ face.originalz wrote:There's really no shame in having a J360 unit though, now you have 100% chance of a game working on your unit, instead of having to follow this region-free circus and be worried about it. As much as I would LOVE for galudaII to be region free I think I'm going to wait until its released just to be on the safe side...or maybe just get a jxbox360 and never have to worry region coding.

Very similar. Amazon, for one, blows out of the LE's in an hour...but heaps of other places have them. Release day comes, and YJ is flooded with them.Acid King wrote: I remember the Deathsmiles LE being quite the debacle with sellers not getting enough to cover their orders.

Re: Espgaluda II
Anyway, my theory of this whole LE/SE debacle is that the LEs have been spoken for more or less, respectable amount of preorders and interest. The SE may have a lower amount of preorders than past titles, and they're worried about sales. Maybe Mushi's export sales were significant enough so that they feel that they need to open it up in order to make sales expectations? Would kind of make sense why they're deciding to do this at the last minute, but who knows...

That sounds like a plausible scenario.originalz wrote:Anyway, my theory of this whole LE/SE debacle is that the LEs have been spoken for more or less, respectable amount of preorders and interest. We'll know it soon. I just hope that from now on, future Cave release take the region free formula, because now this is the 2nd time that Cave has decided, if true and at the last minute, making region free a game. Now I amjustwondering if the bargain edition of Death Smiles that is supposed to be launched soon is going to be region free as well, and if it is so, they would enter in some conflict interest with Aksys.
Re: Espgaluda II
Wonders if content for the LE and SE disc are different besides the region difference?
Instead of having extra bonuses they may include extra content? I'm just hoping anyways lol

Re: Espgaluda II
It wouldn't be fair of them to do that, for either party. People with the faceplate are just going to sell it on Yahoo Japan for 15,000 yen a day later anyway.Shelcoof wrote:Wonders if content for the LE and SE disc are different besides the region difference?

people are getting excited because they might be able to actually buy and play new cave games without entirely breaking the bank on an import console. that's not funny though it's niceASK wrote:Everyone in this thread recently talking about region-ness of this title is fucking hilarious.

Re: Espgaluda II
Cave's recent graphical style/art direction has been argued into the ground, but what do you guys think of the art in Esp II? I haven't really looked into it and several other Cave titles (MMP, Ibara, et al) because I figured I wouldn't be able to try them out, so I kinda kept them in the back of my mind. Esp II looks super detailed and the animation is top notch from what I can tell, but I miss the grittier style in Esp.ra.de and Guwange. I'm all for color and I think Mushi's pallette fits the game perfectly, but ... dunno about Esp II. I haven't seen it in person so I can't really judge anyway.
I'm talking outta my ass here. Just trying to avoid work today.

Re: Espgaluda II
It's like Espgaluda, only better and more colorful. I like it. Then again, I like all of Cave's art styles. It's always top notch. (Maybe with the exception of DFK, a little too messy)

Re: Espgaluda II
Just e-mailed NCS to inquire if they'd had legit confirmation and this is what they said......
Hi Steven, the Kotaku article is accurate. We asked one of our main distributors to corroborate the information and they confirmed the region-free status of the regular edition of ESPGaluda II.
There was some confusion at first because Cave initially told them that it would be region-locked but they were referring to the Limited Edition. They later made the distinction between the two versions of the game.
