1. GleyLancer
2. Eliminate Down
3. Undead Line
Or, are there other import Shumps that are "must haves" for the Genesis/MegaDrive?
BTW, I have Musha Aleste...
Thanks!

Gley Lancer - Very Good. Excellent visuals and sound, and nice game mechanics with options that you can move independently.DrGamer wrote:Can anyone tell me if these 3 shumps are worth importing for my "modded" Genesis?![]()

I like Curse...I don't know about the other 2.Andi wrote:I wanted to own these games until it was decided by everyone I talked to on this forum that they were garbage. Has the opinion suddenly changed, or is that a joke?Diabollokus wrote:Bio Ship Paladin and curse! you must own them!
I had every one of those games at one time, and yes every penny spent would not disappoint you in anyway.DrGamer wrote:Can anyone tell me if these 3 shumps are worth importing for my "modded" Genesis?![]()

The blurbs within the feature itself are just breif descriptions and rundowns of the strengths and weaknesses, but they are not reviews in themselves. If there are reviews, he'll link to them. Furthermore, all the site's reviews are conributor based. . .and since people tend to review games they love, it will seem a little bias.DrGamer wrote:I read in reviews here that Curse and Bio Ship Paladin have serious slowdown...true?

And what about Bio-Hazard Battle? Good?![]()
I am not too sure what to think about this guys reviews...any input?
Thanks for all the input so far!!! This is a great site I just found today on a great genre...the good ole shump!
It must be a joke. I have never played Bio Ship Paladin, but Curse is among the worst pieces of junk I ever came across. The graphics seem half-decent in screenshots, but look horribly in motion. Slowdown, flicker, jerky scrolling? You name it, Curse has it. Plenty of it. Add to that some stage layouts that feel like they were randomly put together by a bunch of blindfolded apes. I could go on forever, but the essence of what I'm trying to say is simple: Curse is awful.Andi wrote:I wanted to own these games until it was decided by everyone I talked to on this forum that they were garbage. Well, it's not quite the sin against nature you make it out to be, but yes, Zero Wing is certainly a worthwhile game. Far from Toaplan's best, but it's still a fun little game. It's like Arrow Flash or Whip Rush, a fun, mediocre game.Elixir wrote:Modded Megadrive? That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Still, I couldn't help but to give in, and reply to this topic. You see, nobody's bothered to mention Zero Wing. Which I think, is pretty fucking disgraceful to begin with. I may be wrong, which I'm not, but this game deserves at least some relative mention.
I can't see exactly what the differences are between the Genesis and Megadrive consoles. A few tweaks and finer precision, and a new style. Boom, you've just released a console that looks like something completely brand new, that still has the power of something else which looks entirely different.Elixir wrote:In regards to my comment, it's because you can take the case of virtually any Megadrive/Genesis and voila, you have your modchip.
I really hate Aero Blasters for the Genesis. I perfer the TurboGrafx-16 version anyday.Seven Force wrote:Gley Lancer - Very Good. 1. GleyLancer
2. Eliminate Down
3. Undead Line
Eliminate Down - Technically excellent, but completely unforgiving difficulty kind of makes it more hard work than actual fun. Will appeal to you if you like R-Type or Hellfire.
Undead Line - Pretty good port of an X68000 game. Kind of like Castlevania as a vertical shmup. Extremely difficult, I usually only live through 3 stages before it's over. Luckily you get to choose the levels from the start. I prefer Elemental Master and Twinkle Tale though, which are both very similar to Undead Line.

- Thunderforce III & IV - Two of the best shmups of all time! The best on the system!
- Gaiares - Stylish and difficult with a great weapon stealing system. Has a large cult following, but some people hate it.
- Aero Blasters - Another classic, really fun.
- Steel Empire - Really nice and unique visual design in this one.
Vertical:
- Elemental Master - Basically like Thunderforce as a vertical and in a fantasy setting with really excellent music. A must-have!
- Twinkle Tale - Stylish fantasy cute 'em up, that's incredibly well designed and super fun. Has a big cult following and is rather rare and hard to find.
- Verytex - Very fast paced shooter with excellent music. Gamplay kind of like Raiden.
