i tried again last night and it does appear to be sound related (i made a mod to my sound/ speakers before. i will change it back and see if it makes a difference).
it was fun playing streets of rage on the cab though.

Tekken 5 was used for PS2, Bubble Bobble was used for PS1. Both are 480i I believe.emphatic wrote:My guess, the harsh scanlines that the Wei Ya screen offer are more prominent in 240p than in 480i? Or did you run 240p games as well (cutting my theory in pieces)?neorichieb1971 wrote:The PS2/1 games I tried looked better than PCB's on the AWSD. I'm wondering why.
were you having problems? if it ain't broken don't fix it. he's not even sure it will ever be a problem.Casey120 wrote:I received the replacement caps today so i have a small soldering job tomorrow
No need to rotate the screen, just TATE the game (ESPGALUDA or DDP-DOJ as they're 240p) to check for scanline differences.neorichieb1971 wrote:I also have the Cave shooters on PS2 from Akira.. Problem is that I don't mind testing them but I'm not rotating the screen since its a bit hard.

Is the PS2 in component mode? If so change to RGB.Biohazard53 wrote:just an fyi if anyone else hasnt tried but I recently purchased a universal SCART from madcatz and it doesnt work unless I got a bad cable which I doubt, ps2 the image was all green, gamecube/n64 were black screens gamecube had sound, 64 didnt, I know it's not the adapter because my dreamcast SCART works perfect with Viletim's board.
And it does. Played Gradius Gaiden on a PS1 and it never looked better. Saturn was bright and clear too. Now I've ordered a Genesis SCART cable.antron wrote:it's going to rock.
Why? You didn't take your time to read all of this thread, otherwise you would have known that this thread is about viletims OWN PRODUCT. Please make your own thread, it doesn't take longer than posting in others'.gc339 wrote:Please take care to read it entirely

I beg your pardon, sorry to have disturbed this thread, I did not think doing wrong.emphatic wrote:Why? What region cube? North American lacks RGB. So do all N64's (unless modded).
i was just reading through this thread again... not sure if i am understanding this post correctly, but can you plug in a jpac and it will convert 640x480 to work on a low res arcade monitor?viletim wrote:The female JAMMA is a pass through connector for the control lines (pad hack, decoder, jpac, etc) which ate also connected to the screw terminals. Audio and video input is by one of the two 21 pin sockets. Video and speaker output is by the JAMMA connector and screw terminals. There are extra horizontal and vertical sync signals available from the screw terminals for pre-JAMMA monitors. Power can be supplied via the JAMMA connector or the screw terminals. Line audio output by RCA sockets only.
I think that's everything.
no, you would only use the jpac for controls. even when used alone the jpac does not convert video signals, you have to make the PC output low res.slap_fight wrote:i was just reading through this thread again... not sure if i am understanding this post correctly, but can you plug in a jpac and it will convert 640x480 to work on a low res arcade monitor?viletim wrote:The female JAMMA is a pass through connector for the control lines (pad hack, decoder, jpac, etc) which ate also connected to the screw terminals. 480i should work though, right? I think the real question is, if there's no load on the scart input on this unit, will it passthrough JAMMA video (i.e. from a J-Pac)? Using RGB scart would be better though.antron wrote:no, you would only use the jpac for controls. even when used alone the jpac does not convert video signals, you have to make the PC output low res.

no, it will not. those pins on a the JAMMA input are not connected to anything.emphatic wrote: 480i should work though, right? I think the real question is, if there's no load on the scart input on this unit, will it passthrough JAMMA video (i.e. from a J-Pac)?
Tim, can it really operate with H-sync only?JP2 off, JP3 on = TTL composite sync or TTL horizontal sync.
I'd suggest using this circuit.antron wrote: for a PC you could make a DB15+audio to SCART cable. the only issue I see is the lack of C-sync from a PC. you need to merge the H and V syncs together (sometimes just combining them works, thoughts Tim?)

ahh, so v-sync would bypass your board altogether.viletim wrote:antron wrote:Tim, can it really operate with only H sync?JP2 off, JP3 on = TTL composite sync or TTL horizontal sync.
It can, but this is only useful if your monitor has seperate horizontal and vertical sync inputs.

When I was securing controllers to mod a few years ago, it was said that the generic 3rd party PS1 controllers were best to use.Biohazard53 wrote:drunkninja24 wrote:Got mine today finally, works great! Played some PS2 ESPGaluda and it looked absolutely stunning. Great job viletim!
yeah was going to mention this, I changed my PS2 to RGB mode and it looks ridiculous, now I need to mod a PS1/PS2 controller anyone know what the "easiset" ps1/ps2 controller to mod is?
I got 2 DC pads hacked from HaruMan very nice quality he does a great job.antron wrote:for those wondering how to connect controls if you can't solder, here is a pad hacking service:

anyone used this guy?
I recommend just getting a PS2 one, and getting converters from tototek for other systems:
