Hmph...I like Soldner X (although level 2/2 still infuriates me)...looking forward to 2.

Why is it the enemies always look really nice but everything else looks out of place? I guess this has potential.

You know, you gotta have some balls to make a sequel to a game that was widely criticized, had its price drop quickly like a brick in a market that's as tiny as the shmup market.
The screenshots look marginally better than the first ones from the first Soldner X. But it's hard to expect anything better than mediocre.

Are you talking about the PC version? I don't remember it ever being discounted on the PSN store.Shatterhand wrote:had its price drop quickly like a brick in a market that's as tiny as the shmup market.
You cannot stop me with Paramecium alone!

0 points?
Seriously?
We don't need the game to tell us that.

I love a game that has balls enough to call itself prototype (read: alpha release) instead of DLC or whatever. It's saying to you "you will choke this down and you will ask for more."

Re: Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype: PS3
As an owner of the previous game, I'm definitely looking forward for the new OST release. The original gets periodical plays on my music equipment. I really like Rafael's works. Definitely pre-ordering the OST.
BUT (there is always a but), the lack of a PC version (even if it's digitally distributed in Steam, although I would definitely take the retail over that) is extremely disappointing. I appreciate the PS3 is getting more support with the X-Borg 360 assimilating it all but... Well, maybe later on, after the PS3 has been tested and fixed? And, guys, don't forget to put the player shots below the enemy barrages, not over them.

There's also an interview and report on Sidequest Studios in the current issue of the German M!Games magazine, page 26 or so I think.
News & new screens

Remind me again why guys like this don't listen to actual shmup players. I forgot. Are they just independently wealthy and doing this for their own vanity? NG:DEV on the other hand gives me the impression that they are trying. Of course they have been know to even post on this board.

I didn't say how hard they were trying. Sounds like their next game will be significantly different from Last Hope at least.

The new chaining and rank systems makes this actually look promising. I'll most likely buy it.

Re: Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype: PS3
Is there going to be a mode with no health bar? And if there is can you guarantee there's a way to beat it w/o getting hit even once?

Re: Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype: PS3
This is pretty much what I like about shmups in general. Also the original Super Mario. If it doesn't have that I'll probably pass. Needs more testing. After reading the translations by Gaijin Punch I realize that the reason Japanese shmups play they way they do, is because those guys were weaned on good stuff like Alcon and Gradius and Sky Shark. Surely it's not impossible to try those games in Europe, in this day and age. Surely.Udderdude wrote:Is there going to be a mode with no health bar?
