Please, do it. Rock and Roll of the highest order. Makes sure it's their first LP 'Mono' though, 2nd LP 'Pennance Soiree' is a little tamer, goes off into more of a sleaze-rock, feedback kinda vibe, still rules though. Try www.buddyhead.com, I'm sure there are some audio clips on there. And make sure you read the gossip and record review pages as well, surely the funniest thing on the web.
Cool thanks.

iantei/Pacrappa--I'm fairly new to the Jazz scene, last year I pick up Bitches Brew by Miles Davis and I've really enjoyed the L.P.

any other artists you would recommend to a Jazz newbie?

Cannibal Corpse 'Eaten back to life' has been in my stereo a few days now. Since I just got back from the Hultsfred musicfestival I haven't really been listening to any cds. Saw NIN which rocked the whole stage. Also happened to see Snoop Dogg, which was the worst shit ever. Along with Marilyn Mansons performance, Snoop was the worst artist those three days. (Bergman Rock was great also.)
it's not hiphop, it's electro

Dunno whether the term Punk Rock has any relevance any more or not, but if it does, this is it. A trashy, messy ungodly howl of a record that seems to be much better known here in the UK than the US they hail from. Follow up, 'Pennance Soiree' is a different kettle of fish though.
I've not heard their second LP but 'Mono' is a top record. They remind me of a besuited Jesus Lizard but i doubt that their frontman is as fucked-up-crazy as David Yow. Shame.

At the moment, the only 'new' music i've got on rotation is The Bloc Party and interpol with the latter slowly becoming one of my fave bands ever.

My most favorite jazz album of all time is by Yusef Lateef and it is called "Live at Pep's". I see it in used bins all over the place so maybe you can find it on the cheap. I also strongly recommend Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk and Cannonball Adderly. I've always found John Coltrane to be a bit ovarrated but you should probably give him a listen too.

I like Bloc Party but I just cant get into Interpol.. I think it's the singers voice to me there's no variation which can work to a degree but his voice grates on me too much.

as far as jazz goes, I love:

ornette coleman - shape of jazz to come
ornette coleman - free jazz
miles davis - bitches brew
john coltrane - interstellar space
squarepusher - music is rotted one note (not jungle, unlike any other squarepusher album)
mahavishnu orchestra - inner mounting flame
painkiller - execution ground / guts of a virgin / buried secrets & live bootlegs

I saw Zorn, Laswell, Frissel and Lombardo (SLAYER!) open for the Boredoms once. It was pretty sick.

I know this two cents is somewhat useless seeing as I'm not a jazz guy at all but man, that album is fantastic and manly.

Asobi Seksu

eels - blinking lights and other revelations

Onmyoza - Mugenhoyo

Foo Fighters - In Your Honor (just the acoustic disc at the moment, though. The electric one is a bit too... emo.)

Sleater-Kinney - The Woods

Tom Waits - Blood Money

Dir en grey - Macabre

That's pretty much what I've had rotating for the past couple of weeks.

Oh I forgot to mention the coolest band I've heard in a long time (and I'm sure some people here would like them): DMBQ. They're a band from Japan that just does really straightforward Led Zeppelin inspired rock. They're kind of a one trick pony...everything is the same, but personally I don't give a crap cus I love the trick :) And its great cus they have a good amount of releases. I managed to find them all on soulseek
