so im having fun with it ....im playing the PC version...

online is kinda buggy at times so far, and ive noticed a few single player bugs as well, and ive only played the first campaign...to be expected i guess

loving the melee weapons....kitana ftw!! 8)

slice and dice

anybody else notice that sometimes the aiming is off....like i shoot at the wall and the bullet hits a few feet from my crosshairs

Played the demo. Seemed pretty much the same as the first one but with melee weapons. Not nearly a big enough change for me to pay $50 for it. I'm not even sure the first one was worth the $50 I spent on it. Playing the same campaigns over and over got tiring. The core idea was great, but there just wasn't enough variety in the gameplay.

I'm also still mad at Valve for making a sequel so quickly. If I had been told that L4D2 would be out one year after L4D, I wouldn't have bought L4D, that's for sure. I bought L4D under the expectation that we'd be seeing new campaigns, weapons, and enemies every few months for a number of years, the same way TF2 has seen constant updates. Valve said this was going to happen before the game came out. They're still saying the same thing, but it seems pretty clear that they're going to focus on L4D2, and probably make L4D3 for next year, so L4D1 won't be getting much love.

Hey Valve! How about Half-Life 2: Episode 3 already! "Episodic gaming" means it isn't supposed to take three years to produce a 5-hour game!

hmmm.... i see it the exact opposite...sure the campaigns are the same, but teh zombies are different every time through....i find it has a lot of replay value because of that....

really all i see l4d2 as is 5 more campaigns for now....i mostly play single player offline....$45 preordered through steam....fuck all really considering how much play it will get through the winter

im kinda biased tho...i just like shooting zombies....i dont even really like FPS's

the game could suck balls, but if i could walk around and fuck up zombies i wouldnt really care

I poured some serious hourage into l4d1 and even though the campaigns got a little repetitive I still enjoyed playing them over and over because it was all about co-op and more specifically VS mode. Campaign mode got old fast but VS mode was where all the skilled players hung out...even though rage quitters, glitchers, hackers, whiners were everywhere it used to make me laugh i still used to get some good games with regular friends on steam, I got so addicted some nights I was playing till 6am and around 50+hours a week

When they finally released some downloadable content like the survival mode I had some fun on it then quit for a while. I still get a couple of friends messaging me asking if ive "reinstalled the game yet" and quite frankly I wont till im ready the game eats up too much time. However im tempted to get this but then I was also on the boycott bandwagon with how valve have been so slow in releasing updates and patches that telling them to shove it might be wise.

However I noticed some people on my friends list are playing l4d2 despite being so against purchasing it in the first place LOL

I like it plenty, played through all the campaigns yesterday and there are definitely some nice set pieces to burn/shoot/chainsaw through. Just wish my friends weren't such cheap bastards. (They're all still playing the demo).

I enjoyed the first one when I played it at a friend's place, but I'm glad I didn't buy it. Haven't played the sequel and probably won't - just not interested enough. Too many other games coming out for this to even remotely place on my purchase list.

Killing Floor is better. arcade-ey action with enough weapons and awesome custom maps to keep things interesting. get some friends together, start a server, have fun knowing you can survive decently well by yourself and laugh at each other's stupidity while you're playing.

Also L4D stole quite a few ideas from the mod version of Killing Floor, so there you go. 8]

I remember when LAN gaming meant everyone all shared one copy of an install, no questions asked, and was the simplest thing. Maybe on a console I can understand since it's essentially a low spec computer with a propriety OS + hardware, you've got no choice but to take it.

With all this steam/DRM nonsense, there's lots of loops you have to go through to get the original L4D working on LAN (all still legal mind you), without everyone having to own the game. Even on the official support forums the first suggestion a Valve moderator gave was "hurr why not just have everyone buy the game" of course. I'm hoping since L4D2 is so similar to to the first, all the console commands getting LAN working properly, but still.

Killing Floor has griefing to the max, reports say (unless they fixed it) like friendlies that can block doorways forever

L4D2 was a nasty trick on the community but I never expected a complete overhaul of the original anyways.

Another subtle little "fuck you" to the community was Bill's Cap being added to TF2 for L4D21579azhklh preorder purchasers. I don't play TF2 anymore (and do really badly whenever I try) but that's one of the few hats I'd ever want to get. I like my money more.

Anybody here up for Killing Floor sometime? I haven't bought it, but I might yet.

Repetitive action games are the best.

Ordered it online so I've been waiting and playing tons of L4D1 this week. This is exactly the kind of sequel I'd want in a game like this (minor refinements in a Psikyo-style, new levels).

Girlfriend got me it for 360 for my birthday, haven't been able to play online much though cause it seems every game I join is laggy as hell. Don't know at this point if it's my connection (likely), or Valve's servers are having trouble with the load.

I have L4D1 and I put in some serious time with that game. A lot of the fun comes out of working for the achievements (Akimbo was awesome), and the coop.

Might be getting this, was a big fan of the first game. I liked the campaigns on expert mode the most, the random enemy patterns and difficulty blended nicely together for some good team based gameplay.

Yeah, on that subject, does anyone know of any locations in Crash Course 2 for the 25 pt. hunter pounce? I've got nothing.

Zaarock & DJI: definitely. We should do an expert run on the realism setting. Versus or scavenge would be fun, too.

Yea I did think about getting killing floor, its pretty much a ut2k4 mod with added features and although l4d stole alot from it I think l4d has the bigger community and a bigger head start. I was going to purchase it but im still waiting for it to come on an special offer if any of you are on steam lmk we can game sometime :)

I wish people would shut the fuck up about this game for five fucking seconds. In a week I've heard:

Too many asians, too many chicks, too many black people, too many spawn points, Australian version sucks, game needs boycotting, game is an expansion, game has shitty matchmaking, not enough servers, Dark Carnival's difficulty is imbalanced, blah fucking blah blah SHUT UP

The problem is you can't actually get away from the thing. it's in backgrounds for websites as advertisements and all over the internet and otherwise. kindly shut the fuck up and realize your statement is pointless and hope we can ignore your stupidity.

Re: left4dead2

Post by jonny5 »

to be honest i find it very odd when i hear people complaining about the cost and relative value of PC/console games, especially here...

i picked up left4dead and left4dead2 for like $65usd off steam....i was previously playing a hacked offline single player version of left4dead.....both will get hours upon hours of play....

considering how much we throw down on PCB's its kinda funny to hear people griping about 40bux

like seriously....$65....that wouldnt even cover a dinner at a nice restaurant for 2.....but it will buy countless hours of amusement and entertainment.....

i just dont get how people can throw down 10X that much on PCB's without batting an eyelash, but they have to give serious thought to dropping $40 on a game that lets you shoot zombies....ZOMBIES!!!!

i think the main thing thats drawn me to this series is the lack of most of the things that turn me off most FPS's...too much going on....the premise of left4dead is fairly simple...shoot zombies, progress, get to the safe house...repeat....its fairly straight forward and i dont get lost....also, nobody is shooting at me and killing me all the time.....i can just zone out and thrash zombies....and if i want a quick zombie killing session, i can do that too....its great for just jumping in and out.....

to me, even if i only played it for a few months and got bored, it would be money well spent....i think sometimes people have come to expect to much from these kinds of games....i would have paid $65 to play a game set in a featureless black room with just zombies in it and the only weapon was a kitana....and i probably would still play it for hours a day

people are weird

just an observation, and certainly not an attack on anybody
