Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
All i know is that the people who bought Futari because it is region free, will be very upset once they find out future cave titles will be region locked. Does cave really want to do that to thier fanbase? Do they even care about the fanbase? It wont make much sense to make future cave titles to be region locked. Are they implying us to import a xbox 360?
The cave whore count in this thread is unbelievable!!!

That isn't a certainty at this point is it? Wasn't this region-free business to test the waters? It's not even out yet.PsikyoPshumpPshooterP wrote:All i know is that the people who bought Futari because it is region free, will be very upset once they find out future cave titles will be region locked.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
I never really understood region locking games beside for cultural differences (race, sex, ect.) I assume it is only for these reasons, because making software available to more people increases potential profit. Hell just about everything we buy in the US is imported. If this games does well outside Asia it will be third party publishers or future titles region free like PS3. Then again, i dont know shit about video game publishing rights or politics. My 2 cents

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
Region locking is about licensing and marketing. A small Japanese publisher isn't going to want to market a property in North America, so they won't want to pay for the license to cover NA as well. The title is stipulated to be region locked because a North American publisher doesn't want to pay for the license of a game that's already out and can be imported, which could erode their sales. That's my assumption, anyways.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
Yes, but if they never planned a foreign release in the first place, making the game region-free can only help them, at least as far as I understand it. I think the major reason for region locking is so that standard prices can be enforced in each territory. It's no secret that games are a lot more expensive in the UK than in the NA, so if all NTSC-U games were suddenly region free, people in the UK could save a lot of money by importing, which isn't something the publishers want. In short, it's a way to screw some people out of their money, but it doesn't really apply to this game, since there was only ever going to be a Japanese release.

A bit off of the current topic, but I was playing Death Smiles Arcade on 360, and remembered exactly how bad that version looked. Since M2 is handling this one, is there any chance they are porting the Arcade version also(making it possible that won't look so bad)? Not that it really matters, since the 360 version is the way to go...I was just curious. Where did M2 pick it up? Did they start the port, or did they pick it up later in the process?

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
If you're playing that mode on an HDTV, and stretch its low-res to fit your tv's resolution, then I could imagine it looking like crap. DS arcade mode should be a perfect port pixel per pixel, sans the innacurracy with the slowdown (I play 360 where that's more apparent anyways). Not sure what you mean by bad, what kind of display are you using for your 360?evil_ash_xero wrote:A bit off of the current topic, but I was playing Death Smiles Arcade on 360, and remembered exactly how bad that version looked. I imagine futari's going to be similar, and unless you have a proper display, playing on Arcade mode won't be that great.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
On another (on topic lol) note, does anyone know/have had experience what the controls are like for the Arrange mode in this game? I'm working on a futari stick and wondering if it'll require more than 4 buttons. Right now I'm planning on 4, for the face buttons ABXY, but from the looks of the trailer there might be more involved with the switching and bullet reflecting.

I don't know what they did to it, but evil ash is right; the arcade mode looks bad regardless of what you play it on. I tried it on my regular TV, and while the scanlines on the CRT help a little, it still looks poor.EPS21 wrote:If you're playing that mode on an HDTV, and stretch its low-res to fit your tv's resolution, then I could imagine it looking like crap. Hopefully, Futari does this differently.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
arcade mode is just the original 240p with every line doubled to 480p. nothing is going to make it better but an emotia or other deinterlacer on a low res crt. that would give you arcade perfect graphics.Raizen1984 wrote: I don't know what they did to it, but evil ash is right; the arcade mode looks bad regardless of what you play it on. the 360 mode is re-rendered in true 480p.
what kind of CRT and connection are you using?

Uh, I don't understand why you people insist on playing the low-res mode on an LCD-screen... you don't jump out of a moving car and then complain about the bruises, do you?

If they make the games region-free, it would (further) discourage 3rd party companies from licensing and localizing the games.linko9 wrote:Yes, but if they never planned a foreign release in the first place, making the game region-free can only help them, at least as far as I understand it.

is there another way of playing with arcade mode rules? like which level you may choose on which stage?ChurchOfSolipsism wrote:Uh, I don't understand why you people insist on playing the low-res mode on an LCD-screen... you don't jump out of a moving car and then complain about the bruises, do you?

everything on PSP, PS3, and DS is region free.... I don't think it matters much. region locked needs to be abolished in this day and age.If they make the games region-free, it would (further) discourage 3rd party companies from licensing and localizing the games.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 is region free
an XM29 is a CRT....its essentially the same as a quad sync arcade monitor.....and its not a low res mode really....480i/480p by definition is not low res....arcade mode looks like shit, CRT or LCD screens....people who say it doesnt look that bad arent very picky or they are playing on an absurdly small screen....ChurchOfSolipsism wrote:Uh, I don't understand why you people insist on playing the low-res mode on an LCD-screen... you don't jump out of a moving car and then complain about the bruises, do you?
your analogy sucked too by the way....
and also....i was saying it sucked in comparison to the original low-res image from the PCB....

apples and oranges. try the 360 version on the cab (assuming you have the equipment).jonny5 wrote:looked absolutely terrible at 480p on my 29" XM29 via VGA...even worse on my HDTV via HDMIbrentsg wrote:Arcade mode looks fine on my 20" CRT.

in other words, don't blame the game. you can blame the 360's 480i SCART (or your lack of a VGA scan converter: the arcade mode was done perfectly for someone who does)
I hope Futari has the same arcade mode.

ummm....i was running via the VGA 360 cable at 480p....the lowest a 360 can output is 480i....the pcb is 240p....i am comparing what you get image wise from both on defaultantron wrote:apples and oranges. try the 360 version on the cab (assuming you have the equipment).jonny5 wrote:looked absolutely terrible at 480p on my 29" XM29 via VGA...even worse on my HDTV via HDMIbrentsg wrote:Arcade mode looks fine on my 20" CRT.

are you saying you use a VGA scan converter to down-convert to 240p?
so basically you are saying the mode is great, if you wanna spend more money to get some image processing gear to make it look right?
as it is sold and what you get out of the box is a very ugly arcade mode....CRT or otherwise
the PCB was meant to be run in a cab and looks great....the 360 port was made to be played on TV's....and arcade mode looks like ass on TV's....

j5, if what you are asking for is high-res graphics, the real arcade does not feature this, as you know. arcade mode is as accurate as you can get with the hardware it runs on.
