This surely means alternating gameplay.

well, what about the first screenshot?
pre production screenshots?
This would be so awesome. because it is such a hard game to be able to brutalize it with 2 players would be lovely.
OK, is there a mame pre prod version that allows this? probably not he? Well, if anything happens in the future please ressurect this thread!

If you've played this game, you'll know that you can "spawn" a copy of your knight that copies your moves with a slight delay. I don't exactly remember how, but I think holding the fire button, you "charge" your character, and get a different result with different weapons. Cool, I'd totally forgotten about this.

Had a look at the shot and it is not a second player.

When you get the gold armour and charge it with the dagger weapon equipped, it releases a doppelganger for a short period of time that mimicks your movements.

It's a power up.

What do you mean?
Was referring to the guy's play style.
Also, reading the comments after checking the video's description made me giggle a bit.

That's awesome too, must play this more. It is in the arcade version right? I've got the ps1 version.

GnG as well as Strider have rank (that computer aided difficulty adjustment thing the flyer talks about). If you are still playing after 45-90 seconds, rank starts increasing at intervals of 10-15 seconds depending on the machine setting. Rank will decrease to the preceding level if you die.

If the difficulty switch is set to Hardest #8, you start at Rank 9. Rank will be maxed out at 16.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I believe the PS1 version is the same as the arcade. It's been a while since I've looked as I no longer have Capcom Generations 2 so can't clarify if it was ported or emulated although I do remember between level loading screens (but I could be remembering the Saturn version)

The doppelganger ability is definitely in Capcom Generation 2's GnG. I was playing it just the other day.

Refine, please: are you saying that there's 2-player simultaneous play in the game you were playing, or that there's simply the magic-enabled mirror image of your player onscreen with you (which does time out after several seconds, and must be recharged and re-released)?

Big difference, there.

I'm answering D's question from a few posts up. Like I said, the Dagger's doppelganger attack is in the PS1 Capcom Generation 2 version of Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

Sorry...I missed that. You're perfectly correct, of course.

Actually, barring the new Magic weapon, the dagger is the best weapon in that game, by far. In fact, even with the Magic Armor, sometimes it's best to still maintain the dagger weapon. Not against the fly boss, though, since the magic weapon will deflect the fly swarm when it approaches you, but there are certain times when the dagger is still more advantageous than the new magic weapon offered in the second loop.
