Asterix is on a par with COI and LDC, it's a fantastic game - I'd have a hard time choosing the best out of the three.BrianC wrote:While not a Disney game, I heard Asterix SMS is similar to Castle of Illusion and extremely good. I plan to pick that one up.

Isn't that picture taken from the Disney's The Black Cauldron circa 1985? I seem to recall that it didn't fare too well at the U.S. box office (although I do remember the stuffed toys of them). ^_~

Disney are tring to get back into gaming - they've published at least one decent game recently (Blackrocks "Pure").
The Warren Spector lead "steampunk Mickey" game has been doing the rumour rounds for about 2 years now - dont think its a secret theyve built a decent studio, just need confirmation of whether steampunk mickey is the game coming.

Yeah, Pure was a lot better than I expected, I really liked that game. Blackrock Studios is located just down the road from me too.dcharlie wrote:Disney are tring to get back into gaming - they've published at least one decent game recently (Blackrocks "Pure").

Treasure made a tiny toons game sometime a while back, forgot what it was called. May not be Disney but ehh its in the same camp
Don't know if it was any good, I'm guessing not.

There are a couple of Mickey Mouse games which are pretty good, but I forgot the name of them. You could wear different costumes that gives you different abilities. I remember that one of them has a firefighter costume and a big cloud boss that you had to use a vaccuum.
Let me guess: you got stuck in the infinite corridor. I had to look in a magazine to get out of that part.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I forgot what a quality game Quackshot really is. Here is the level I could never beat as a kid.

Sounds like the Magical Quest series from Capcom. The second one was called The Great Circus Mystery in the west on SNES/Genesis for some odd reason. I only played the first one, but it's good stuff.Ruldra wrote:There are a couple of Mickey Mouse games which are pretty good, but I forgot the name of them. It's odd how there are no Gummi Bears games, but there was a game based on Black Cauldron. A Sierra adventure game for DOS. I'm not sure if it's any good, though. Sierra also did a game based on Donald Duck. Ironically, Al Lowe's first game.

If we're getting into Loony / Tiny Toons, I thought Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions and Buster Busts Loose were pretty good.
I would've picked the Genesis Aladdin when I was younger (you have a SWORD), but playing them back-to-back now, I like the SNES game better. The Genny has a quick-time event instead of a magic carpet ride, the Genesis version of the inside of the lamp feels like a leftover Earthworm Jim 2 stage, and the final boss is a sprite barely bigger than your character that just stands in place, compared to the big lunging snake from the SNES.

Yeah, thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check it out sometime. Black Cauldron is probably my favourite Disney movie ever, because the Horned King is just so evil! Not comically evil like most other Disney villains, really evil. He's like the Darth Vader of animated movies.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Thanks for the heads up on that DOS game of Black Cauldron, BrianC. ^_~BrianC wrote:It's odd how there are no Gummi Bears games, but there was a game based on Black Cauldron. I second the bewilderment about the lack of a Gummy Bears game, as such a game might very well have been the best thing ever.
Re: Hmm Disney had great games at one time!?
I had a chance to pick the Black Cauldron game up at a yard sale, but I passed since I didn't know much about it. I also found out that ScummVM supports it, so I wouldn't have had a hard time of figuring out how to play it.
