The green weapon allowed me to see the stage 3 boss, on my first run through this game in ages, had lots of close calls.

Attention all players, I would ask if you would specify whether you played the Japanese version (Kyukyoku Tiger II) or the overseas release (Twin Cobra II). Again, the Japanese version is harder.
I assume you are all playing the overseas release (mostly due to "wow, I beat this game in <few> credits"). But it never hurts to be sure.
Also, Saturn Arcade scores are apparently higher than PCB arcade scores by default. Right now, spadgy's the only one playing, but if more people play the port I'll add a seperate board for that.
Yeah, that means you should try to mention how you're playing this.
And I'm pretty sure that port scores are considered KTII, just for reference.

I just got the Saturn Port of Kyukyoku Tiger 2. I'll post a score eventually. Is there anyway to play the red ship with 1 player?

Yeah, it's weird. In order to use the player 2 ship (Red) you need to have 2 controllers plugged in. Use the player 1 controller to select the mode you want then use the player 2 to insert coin and start. You cannot simply start a game and switch the controller, as I've tried, since it doesn't register input once the pad is switched to the previously unoccupied player 2 slot. Also, my advice is to play in Arcade mode, otherwise it could be a very frustrating haul.Andi wrote:I just got the Saturn Port of Kyukyoku Tiger 2. I'll post a score eventually. I can't even name a game this is possible in. Sounds silly.Limbrooke wrote:You cannot simply start a game and switch the controller, as I've tried, since it doesn't register input once the pad is switched to the previously unoccupied player 2 slot.
Come again? Also, my advice is to play in Arcade mode, otherwise it could be a very frustrating haul.

By the way, LGB, it's Willy Elektrix from backloggery.com. I see you run all the old school Toaplan high score threads here.

Kyukyoku Tiger 2
Andi - 5,207,140 - Stage 78 - 1P - I'm only using regular autofire that game defaults to.
That's a miracle run. It will be a long time before I can ever do that again.

God damn. Either you're way better than me or Twin Cobra 2 must be considerably easier than Kyukyoku Tiger 2.drboom wrote:Started playing today, 1cc after only a handful of credits (twin cobra II)

While I don't doubt drboom's skill, Twin Cobra 2 is much easier than what you and I are used to on Saturn.Andi wrote:God damn. So much better then the first, no checkpoints, great panic bomb, creative enemy patterns that's how you do it Takumi.

Edit:Apparently the Arcade version of Twin Cobra doesn't have checkpoints, I'd only played the MD version before. It's now 10 times better.

Takumi didn't work on this game much
only Kyuukyoku Tiger arcade has checkpoints, but most ports do as well
