yes. without access to the GPU.
use of the multiple co-processors on the Cell is (was) on it's way, albeit slowly.

At least the start looks good..

"PS3 Slim Sells over 500,000 units worldwide in the first week"

The more I think of this, the more convinced I am that this generation is way more important than most people realize. It's a desperate struggle to gather an online community, which will then stick together and buy software even when the hardware doesn't matter so much anymore (e.g. consoles could be virtual machines running on pc's or servers). Of course, there could co-exist a couple of these, as long as any single community doesn't achieve a clearly dominant position. So far XBL seems to be the best and most advanced online community. Sony has the strong brands but should definitely do a major sw update for the online stuff, Home is too clumsy for what people really want: Quick lowdown of who's the king of which game, and a unified "marketplace" to easily find online co-op or versus players for any game. Wii's "Mee" avatars were a good idea, but I don't really know how the rest of it is, apparently nothing special (?)

Things will get very interesting..
Before Pope John Paul died he decreed that Aliens were also GOD's creatures and we should treat them with respect.
