A company that processes transactions for MC here in Arizona got hax0red and 40 million. (yes, 40 MILLION) MC card numbers and their expiration dates stolen from their database. No need to panic, remember you can dispute any unauthorized charges with the bank that issued the card. But just so you feel safe, go and check your statement online or over the phone ASAP. And please be nice to the reps that answer your call. Remember it's not their fault, but some loser haxx0r kids with nothing else to do.
Just read it in the paper today.

Wow, I'm not sure which upsets me more... the fact that Mastercard got hacked, or the fact that you just used the word "hax0red" instead of "hacked."Specineff wrote:A company that processes transactions for MC here in Arizona got hax0red and 40 million.

In all honesty I do not expect the culprit to use the CC's this early. That would be too risky and prove his guilt. If any fraudalent purchases are made on any cards on the list of the 40 million the culprit will be pinned down with ease.
Its likely that somehow the info will be spread across a whole network of foreign agents who indulge in such activities. So expect crap to happen around Xmas or other peak periods.
Tangible goods require a valid address, so most if not all tangible items will not be charged to your card, more likely online services, downloads etc.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Strange, that is not the exact same article I quoted from. When I got that quote, it was the top story on CNN.com, now it's completely vanished from the front page altogether.
It always creeps me out when they 'edit' news stories
