Uwabami Breakers

Post by Momijitsuki »

I did a quick search through the high score forum and didn't see a thread for this, so I'll make one since I've been working on completing the game. Let's get some scores in here!

ImageImageImage

This is the scoreboard for Uwabami Breakers, a game created on alcoholic doujin developer ZUN's Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith engine. However, the game was made by a group by the name of 'The Drinking Party', of which ZUN only contributed the music and engine to this game.

Platform: Windows 2000/XP, DirectX 9.0c (and up, I use Vista and it works just fine)
Requirements: Pentium 3 (equivalent or better) CPU @800MHz+, 32MB VRAM, 100MB disk space
Released on December 29, 2007

You can download the game for free on their site, or click here for the sake of convenience.

The concept is simple: You are Isami Asama, a danmaku-dodging drunken office assistant, and the object of the game is to eat and inebriate yourself through three stages of pure curtain fire fun. The controls are exactly the same as the Touhou series: Tap Z to fire, Hold Z to charge up a rolling attack that you can set in the path of enemies, X to bomb, and Shift to focus and slow down your movement. Scoring is mostly based off of enemy chaining, capturing 'Spell Cards', and not dying (end-of-stage bonuses).

Anyway, on to the rules. Then again, there really aren't many to make...
  • Don't have an obscenely high slowdown rate. I don't really know what would be considered high, but I haven't had any runs over 0.5%. Nothing suspicious, I guess.
  • If you're submitting a high score for the #1 slot, you must provide a replay file. You can easily upload them on Megaupload or Rapidshare or any other upload site, I don't care. Just get it uploaded. Replays for non-top score runs are totally welcome as well.
  • Screenshots are fun too. Post those if you wish.
Scores should be submitted as such:
Name - Score - Stage - Slowdown %

And without further delay, the scoreboard:

Code: Select all

1. Momijitsuki - 2,763,396 - 3 - 0.0%
2. ED-057 - 1,237,318 - 2 - 0.3%

I had a 3 million score but my replay is long gone. Now that there's a highscore thread I might get back to this and go for the ALL.

No love for this game? Maybe my crappy score will encourage shmuppers to post their better scores ;)

lol, what is it with the spambots and this thread?
(BTW, I almost got past the stage 2 boss a couple weeks ago, she had like 3 pixels of health bar left when I died)

Anybody know how the end of stage bonuses mean? The English patcher lists them as "Consumption Tax," "Service Charge," and "Late-Night Fee," but that doesn't help me understand what actually determines them. As far as I can tell the first is a fixed 5% and the third is dependent on the stage you've cleared but is fixed for each stage, but I have no idea what the second number is based on.

Edit: Never mind, found the formulas here. Sounds like it's: (amount of time before closing time) / N + (beer gauge), where N is 8, 6, and 10 in stages 1, 2, and 3, respectively. I'm glad to see that doing everything quickly actually factors into scoring. The other two stage bonuses are as I said.

Shepardus - 1,889,041 - 3 - 0.0%

Pretty disastrous first two stages but managed to reach the third stage and did just barely well enough there to clear.
