It can't be that bad for Sony, since people will have to buy Memory Sticks to play these games in the end, and regardless of who the actual manufacturer of the stick is, some money ends up Sony's pockets.

Well, I'd say bad for Sony because people could rent the game and copy it to their memory card, and BAM! $50 game for only $7 bucks. It's even better if you borrow it from a friend. BAM! Free game.

I'd say its bad considering the PSP has not launched in the UK yet.

New marketing slogan "Buy PSP and get FREE games"

Memory Sticks are not that cheap (1GB goes for around $100). By not offering a UMD burner, Sony has covered its base somewhat.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

So Sony makes money but the publishers of the games get fucked. They then get pissed at Sony, and quite developing as many games = bad for Sony.

That's a theoretical situation... whether it happens that way, we'll have to see.

That scenario will spell "Doomed" for Sony. Either that or more PS2 ports

I don't really like the system's games, I would be interested in some emulation though.

Yeah, piracy will REALLY kill the sales of the PSP just like it has for the XBox, PS, and Gamecube...

The overwhelming majority of people have neither time nor technical ability to fuck about with such things. Combine that with the fact that you have to have the increasingly rare 1.0 firmware for anything to work, and you have a whole lot of not a story.

Its not really gonna stop sales of the systems, more like the games. If all you have to do is download an ISO to a memory stick its hardly complicated to self boot a game.

If that ever becomes possible. Which at the moment its not!

Piracy put the final nail in the coffin for the DC imo.

^^^ Well, it's time for Sony to eat some nail-and-coffin piracy soup, just so they pay for their sins against the Dreamcast.

dam right specineff, it won't kill the console but its nice to see the guys who are ruining the industry lose a bit of cash. unfortunate for the developers though they suffer more than anyone.

Newer games require the firmware to be updated to run if I'm not mistaken. So unless these hackers can bypass the firmware check on newer games I really don't see this as a big deal.

But you'd only be able to get one or two games on a memory stick.
Be attitude for gains:

2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

I wish sony would ditch those things. I hate memory sticks. All other forms of memory are so much cheaper to buy.

Sony are a bunch of money-grubbing bastards. They could afford to lose a few million dollars in the natural progress of emulation.

Can't wait til the Revolution comes and pwns Sony AND Macrosoft in the ass.
