Memory Sticks are not that cheap (1GB goes for around $100). By not offering a UMD burner, Sony has covered its base somewhat.FatCobra wrote:Well, I'd say bad for Sony because people could rent the game and copy it to their memory card, and BAM! $50 game for only $7 bucks. It's even better if you borrow it from a friend. BAM! Free game.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

So Sony makes money but the publishers of the games get fucked. They then get pissed at Sony, and quite developing as many games = bad for Sony.Memory Sticks are not that cheap (1GB goes for around $100). By not offering a UMD burner, Sony has covered its base somewhat.
That's a theoretical situation... whether it happens that way, we'll have to see.

Yeah, piracy will REALLY kill the sales of the PSP just like it has for the XBox, PS, and Gamecube...
The overwhelming majority of people have neither time nor technical ability to fuck about with such things. Combine that with the fact that you have to have the increasingly rare 1.0 firmware for anything to work, and you have a whole lot of not a story.

Its not really gonna stop sales of the systems, more like the games. If all you have to do is download an ISO to a memory stick its hardly complicated to self boot a game.black mariah wrote:Yeah, piracy will REALLY kill the sales of the PSP just like it has for the XBox, PS, and Gamecube...![]()

If that ever becomes possible. Which at the moment its not!
Piracy put the final nail in the coffin for the DC imo.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

But you'd only be able to get one or two games on a memory stick.
Be attitude for gains:
1) Be praying...
2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...
And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Sony are a bunch of money-grubbing bastards. They could afford to lose a few million dollars in the natural progress of emulation.
Can't wait til the Revolution comes and pwns Sony AND Macrosoft in the ass.
