Can someone help me with Exceed 2nd Vampire Rex?
I want to play fullscreen but there isn't a screen option in-game and the config.exe program gives me a 'startup failed' error.

Also, what's a 'TATE'?

Heh, if it wasn't for the acronym I'd of known exactly what it meant.

DoDonPachi is the most exciting and immersive STG I've played (haven't tried any newer Cave games). The Touhou games have nothing on DoDonPachi -- they might have more gimmicks and fancier looking patterns, but the pacing is just too slow to get that hypnosis/meditation type feeling where you almost merge with the game.

I've never 1CCed DoDonPachi though (died to the 1-6 boss a few times), but I've 1cced Touhou PCB and IN on Lunatic mode.

Touhou lunatic before Dodonpachi 1-all, eh? How does that even happen?

Touhou lunatic clear (any of the games, really) is multiple times harder than a Dodonpachi 1-all, imo.

Of course, that's just an opinion.

If you're playing for survival, Touhou is somewhat easier for at least one reason: it has deathbombing, while DDP does not. Besides, DDP puts more pressure on the player at all times, not just at particular chokepoints. If you don't care about the score at all, you can 1CC Touhou games just by methodically herding bullet streams with your wide or homing shot character of choice. I would have done that long ago if I wasn't so pathetially inclined to always pick items up at the top of the screen.

Playing for score shifts the balance massively towards Touhou Lunatic, though, since it drastically changes the playing style, making it aggressive to the point of having to be in upper part of the screen nearly throughout entire stages.

Touhou also gives out more bombs and extends, features homing weapons, has a visible hitbox (post ESD), and a lot of the patterns are exactly the same each time.

Well, to be fair, this is not entirely true. DDP's first loop offers 3 extends to the total of 6 lives, which give a total of 30 bombs, plus 5 more bomb items. That's about as much as (and sometimes even higher than) any pre-MoF Touhous' general bomb count.

(Is your name, per chance, a reference to one of Aphex Twin's SAW 85–92 tracks?)

PCB gives 8 extends with moderate point item collecting (more if you collect very aggressively). Playing as Sakuya, that gives 44 bombs from lives, plus however many bomb items you collect (can't remember), plus borders which are effectively free bombs.

Yes, that is the origin of my username.

I don't think there's really any point in commenting on a sentence that ends in "imo". Nobody ever agrees about this sort of thing, I just post a quick one or two sentence opinion and it's done, usually nobody bothers to reply . Whatever though, they're different enough that it can go either way, no use debating it.

However, the comment about playing for score in ddp vs touhou is almost certainly backward, as scoring in touhou basically requires simple modifications to your current strategies (unless you're REALLY going all out to squeeze out every point a la world record runs, which can get pretty insane), while scoring in ddp requires completely new routes, along with never bombing at all. On a side note, I hate all the touhou scoring systems except 10 which still isn't even that good lol

Anyway I didn't mean to de-rail the thread lol, sorry bros. Not gonna post any more, PM me if you want.

Also, La Soeur De Barrage?
Are you questioning if it's the same game because of my spelling, or do you want a link?

could also come down to system specs.....if you are running the games on a crappy PC running them at like 30fps it would be quite easy to 1cc lunatic

PCB is somewhat of an exception, no other game is that generous (MoF will destroy you quick if you power down too much).
