AutoFire and GameSpeed Question
AutoFire and GameSpeed Question
Is it possible to set-up an auto-fire for the piercing laser in mars matrix. I reckon that the piercing laser (with good frequency) is stronger than the normal fire? Is there an auto-fire option in the dreamcast port? Similarly, is it possible to set an auto-fire for psikyo games in MAME. I am mainly interested in their later games.
Sometime ago, there was also some discussion in the ddp thread about it running slower or faster than its normal speed. I wanna know a bit more about that. I guess this has to do with setting frame drop to auto or manual? What is the best way ensure a game is running at its optimal speed?

the DC version of MM has different rates of autofire already mapped to different buttons.
to do it on a PCB you need a couple of adjustable circuits and just split the button inputs to different buttons with a separate circuit inbetween each.

the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

Re: AutoFire and GameSpeed Question
Yeah it's easy to set up through the tab menu when you are running the game. Bear in mind you need to be able to use your charge shot so you will need to create a normal shot and an auto fire version of it.wiNteR wrote:Similarly, is it possible to set an auto-fire for psikyo games in MAME. I'm not sure about all Psikyo games, but most that I've played don't really benefit that greatly from auto fire it seems, so I wouldn't expect them to get significantly easier.

Re: AutoFire and GameSpeed Question
i threw an auto fire circuit into one of my cabs for strikers 2 and gunbird 2, and it made them WAY easier......i had it setup up so button 1 was normal shot(for charge attacks), button 2 was bomb and button 3 was autofire.....freddiebamboo wrote:Yeah it's easy to set up through the tab menu when you are running the game. it made it too easy imo....you could just walk through them pretty much

Re: AutoFire and GameSpeed Question
Maybe my auto setting was too low when I tried it out on strikers 2 in wolf cause I only noticed a minimal difference. I don't think I've seen a replay of strikers 2 where the auto is abused like the way you describe, in fact I've never thought to my self watching any psikyo replay that they were auto killing stuff point blank much quicker than I was normally, although I am bad at noticing stuff like that on replays.jonny5 wrote:i threw an auto fire circuit into one of my cabs for strikers 2 and gunbird 2, and it made them WAY easier......i had it setup up so button 1 was normal shot(for charge attacks), button 2 was bomb and button 3 was autofire.....freddiebamboo wrote:Yeah it's easy to set up through the tab menu when you are running the game. Do our scoreboards allow it? I don't think I've seen anyone actually mention auto on the scoreboards. I think I'll mess about with autofire settings in mame over the weekend and see what its like.

I vaguely recall someone saying that autofire in Psikyo games doesn't make much difference, but i may be misremembering and it's actually for Raizing.
I use MAME+, and my guess is you can't get an autofire piercing laser in MM.
For Dragon Blaze/Gunbird 2 i use Autofire Delay 6:
[] = Custom 1 = autofire
X = Button 2 = bomb
R1 = Button 3 = dragon shot
R2 = Button 1 = normal button (used for charge shot)
For Mars Matrix, i use Autofire Delay 3:
[] = Button 1 = autofire
X = Custom 1 = normal button (used for piercing laser/bomb)
I haven't played MM in-depth yet tho, so my button setup may not be as refined as that of DB/GB2.

I'm not sure anyone so far really gets what the OP was saying. I think he means auto-piercing. Tapping is inefficient because you might hit it too early or late. You can't get like a rapid piercing sword basically, but if you want ASAP piercing, turn on autofire with delay 49 (lol, seriously) and set it on a custom button. I don't think it's that useful though, but go for it if you want.
To prevent incorrect speeds, just disable all the options like sync to monitor refresh, triple buffering, etc that you shouldn't have on anyway.

Would be interesting to see if this can be implemented on a real CPS2 powered Mars Matrix PCB setup. Granted that it's played with a single fire button anyways, it might be tricky indeed. This situation is where an external autofire PCB with variable pot trim would be needed anyways. ^_~

Thanks for the input guys. I was able to make a good set-up for GB 2 with auto-fire. The only problem is that 4 buttons are a little too much for keyboard. Another thing I noticed is that if I hold the normal fire button while holding auto-fire the charged shot only uses 1 bar. If I release the auto-fire and then hold the normal fire button it is the usual charged shot (takes away all the bar). Is their any alternate to it under normal circumstances?
I am curious as to how useful is the melee weapon? It is quick and less expensive (in terms of bar usage) but how often is it really needed?
And yes, I was referring to auto-piercing in MM. The problem with simple auto-fire is that it takes away control from the reflect shield.

Are you sure? Isn't 6 a little too high? I don't think using a lower delay would hurt anyway.For Dragon Blaze/Gunbird 2 i use Autofire Delay 6:

Hmm i don't recall offhand why i set it to 6... It might have had something to do with a quicker reuptake post-charged shot, but i'm not sure.
