He is near his 3rd year now since the initial diagnosis, compare that to the potential 20 he could have had.

You are supposed to regularly check out your testicles in the shower, but I doubt you would be able to tell if there is something wrong with your prostate unless you are a trained professional.ZacharyB wrote:Yeah, you are supposed to check yourself in the shower regularly. Yep. It's fully possible to get it around 40, though, so the exams are a definite must-have when you're the proper age.EOJ wrote:Sorry to hear that. You don't need prostate exams until you're over 50, so don't worry about it just yet. If you have a history of it in your family, start getting yearly exams at 40.
Sorry to hear that. Oddly enough, my grandfather at almost 70 years was diagnosed with leukemia which he must have had for a long time already...CIT wrote:Sorry to hear that about your dad.
My uncle recently passed away from leukemia. The chemo was successful, but it was so strong that it knocked his liver out.
You're supposed to start getting your checks at 40. (6 years to go until the party starts). That's a bummer. I don't think most people realize how bad chemotherapy really is. The cancer may not kill you, but the chemo will fuck you up for ages. My mom got over breast cancer (stage 2) a couple of years ago. She did one chemo session and said fuck that. You don't need prostate exams until you're over 50

But if you don't do chemo, the cancer will get worse and kill you eventually. It's not like it's gonna heal all by itself.GaijinPunch wrote:I don't think most people realize how bad chemotherapy really is. The cancer may not kill you, but the chemo will fuck you up for ages. an uncle of mine had pancreatic cancer, and he used to be a heroin user for some 20+ years. but he was clean for a few years before he was diagnosed. his body was too frail and while he beat the cancer, the chemotherapy was so damaging he only lived 5 more monthsGaijinPunch wrote:The cancer may not kill you, but the chemo will fuck you up for ages.
