(but i fear loli overdose and cheap 3D graphics will be the future... )
Yes, or Mushihime-III (non-puzzle). Preferrably not a prequel, they're young enough as it is.
+1 for a Mushi, I want another game with modes or difficulty levels like in Deathsmiles. I want challenge and I don't want loops ! I would be perfectly happy with a Ketsui that works this way.

ketsui mango label? 8)

and thank you for the voting support Grinning Cat :D

although there are one or two voters that might want to edit their lists, as i think you're supposed to put the score and name of the game in square brackets, and separate them with 1 space. ie:

[10] [Ketsui]
etc :)

Considering the current loli trend, Ketsui 2 would certainly have lolis in it somewhere. Just look at DFK: girl bosses that you undress during their death animations :?

i guess it's not really my taste. the doj posters were fantastic. although people tell me there's some phallic imagery going on (what is it with people here seeing everything as a penis?), but it's too subtle for me. i don't think the DFK one is particularly well-drawn either.

i couldnt agree more, DFK is a brilliant game and i enjoy it immensly but the charater design is some of the worst and most out of place i have ever seen in any game.

I admit I'm not a huge fan of Cave games, but this is one of the only ones I've ever liked. I have a feeling that I'd enjoy Ibara quite a bit, but I've never had the chance to play it.

Maybe someday.

ibara's fantastic :) difficulty curve is pretty steep, and there's a few obtuse scoring tricks to learn, but once everything clicks into place it's a really satisfying game

do you own ketsui yourself?

Hah. I wish. That's way out of my cost range. I played it a bit at a meet-up a while back. Afterwards I started looking into the game fairly hardcore. Needless to say, I'm purchasing a Japanese Xbox 360 partially due to the fact of its porting. I even paid the ridiculous going rate for the Death Label so I could have something to kill the wait.

I'm horrible at the game, no doubt. But considering I had the desire to play a Cave game for any length of time, it gets a big thumbs up in my book.

Thinking about it, I'm not very good at any of these games considering the amount of time I put into them. Don't suppose that matters as long as they're fun. Such a viewpoint is probably reflective in a lot of the games on my voting list this year.

for real, i think if we were only allowed to vote for games where we have a decent score, i think most of us would struggle getting 25 games up on the list.

i said this on another forum, but i really hope 5pb do well with ketsui. they've had plenty of time, and hopefully learnt from any mistakes with doj blex, it's an awesome IP, and potentially could be a game worth importing a 360 for alone, and have the same sort of reverance as ikaruga or radiant silvergun. they've got everything going for them, but i guess only time will tell

that's cool that you got to play it at a meet. i think the prohibitive price has kept the game out of a lot of people's hands, and it's always good to get the word out. i know casino arcade in london had ketsui on site for a fair few months, and had a similar effect

i've had a look through last years detailed breakdown, and whilst there were more voters this year, i think ketsui should make it onto the top 25 :) the 25th game last year received 26 votes, and ketsui this year received a massive 39 votes - more than double what it got last year. big thanks to everyone who voted :D apologies to jonny whose thread we ruined

Although I respect and appreciate folks honestly, if Ketsui isn`t at least in the top 25 then that would be a very sad reflection on a) the `English` speaking import Shooting Game scene and b) the `English` speaking Shooting Game import market. If it`s not up there, then the majority of the so-called informed/passionate, then don`t understand/have`nt experienced their niche hobby fully. This is just my opinion.

It would be a bit like surveying North American car fans as to what are the most important cars ever made and the ur-quattro not making it as the results were full of Big Foots, Batmobiles and that one out of Smokey and the Bandit. One would have to laugh to be fair.

If it does make it*, then as a personal tribute I will take my Ketsui Chip and go to Shibuya Crossing in my Birthday suit and take a pic. Heave.

If 5pb does the business, 20 10 will be her year*. It will be like Sega Saturn magazine and Radiant Silvergun all over again, only deserved and not 7 years after the fact this time. Got to love the mainstream.

*At a push though, I couldn`t give a toss as to what other people think regarding the games I like.

I think it's really hard to, and not actually correct, to vote for a game you've never played.

Maybe a lot don't vote for it b/c they've never touched it. That would be my case. I'm not saying it doesn't live up to expectations, I've just never got to lay my hands on it.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I think you're probably right.

Like the whole Ketsui situation. How many people actually have cabs and have the game? I have no basis for my reasoning, but I have to imagine it's the minority, not the majority.

I've noticed when folks talk about their favorite games within my group of friends, we tend to list the ones we own or have owned.

It sounds a bit elitist at 1st, but then it makes since.... you love what you can play. It's hard to love a game you haven't played.... superplays don't cut it.

I would love to get that PCB... but after dropping 1200.00 on MF:BL I have to take a breather.

i'm sure you're right. to quote myself from the opening post:

i don't take these polls too seriously, as ultimately the "best" games don't necessarily win. a game that was localised in europe and the US has a much higher chance of being voted for than a game which hasn't. and in the same way, a non-emulated game which has no console port will have an even slimmer chance. i'm not saying you need to love it like your spouse, but ketsui is a far superior danmaku shooter than something like dodonpachi, in almost every single aspect. and i do genuinely think it deserves to be on that top 25

DDP is an excellent game, no doubt. but it's aided by the fact it was ported to two systems, and runs really well in mame (which is where i think most of it's voters stem from)

the scoring is asinine, but a scoring system is only one part of what makes a game. i get the impression that most people don't focus on a game's scoring system until they can survive until the final stages (?). some games will feel totally different whether playing for survival or for score
