DUX for Dreamcast
If Colonel Sanders approves DUX 2009 like he did the arcade original, I'm gonna bust a nut. He knows badass games.

I like the electronic fart noise music with guitars in that vid...
I'm not busting on the music... I honestly enjoyed it, but I giggled at the robot fart noises also. I am easily amused sometimes.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Glad you like it btw.
Funny note about cooking-up that particular track: It was actually easier to play that triangle line than it was to mic the robot's ass.I like the electronic fart noise music with guitars in that vid...

I don't understand. I don't like it at all. I should be liking it, but the more I look at it and the less convincing it is.
I don't dig the colours. What's with all this pastel pink, white, red, rounded corners in connection with a space, hi-tech environment? Also, it defies my idea of speed. Everything looks incredibly sluggish. It feels like a cute 'em up without the cute factor. Also big lines, lack of detail, some monsters have repetitive animations like it was a loopy pre-rendered thing
Also, what's with the collision detection there? I don't understand what's going on with enemy bullets. Also, a beam that goes all the way across the boss without a flash, or, I don't know, a small screen-quake or something? It doesn't look very involving, doesn't convey the idea that you're fighting a big motherfucker in space.
Well, ok, it might be the best game ever, it just isn't my kind of action I guess
Best of luck

Same here, it seems like with the bullet absorb mode on it's really easy, and with it off it's near impossible. Further, there's no reason not to use it .. since you get more score by using it (From what I can tell reading the blog). It's the risk/reward system in reverse! Less risk, more reward ..Plasmo wrote:The only problem I have with this video is, that it looks kinda easy. I know invincibiliy was most probably on, but with your pod able to absorb everything it looks really easy...![]()

I'm glad most pople like the boss fights.
I however agree with you that sometimes the bullet soaking features meand less risk makes more reward, but that's not a bad thing for me. And its also not that easy, because when using the feature poperly you sometimes have to be closer to the boss enemy, which makes it more dangerous.
I actually only heard this twice, so I'd like to hear more about this. I also remember, you said that Last Hope looks bulky, and I don't know what you mean with that either. I'd like to hear how a evolving boss fight should look to you?

Indeedly the bullet soaking feature makes complex bullet patterns easier to solve, but still the game is built around that and the difficutly stays intact. Nonthless, with further loops the bullet soaking is less strong which increases the difficulty. The first loop of the game should be a cakewalk for you anyway.Plasmo wrote:I know invincibiliy was most probably on, but with your pod able to absorb everything it looks really easy...
From a danmanku player point of view, your'e completly right. But the game isn't about dodging every single bullet of a complex bullet pattern. I can assure your every bullet pattern with the game is very dodgeable. About the risk and reward, you somehow have a point but isn't it even more risky to refuse shoot at enemies at all? I mean should the player get a reward for committing suicide?Udderdude wrote:Same here, it seems like with the bullet absorb mode on it's really easy, and with it off it's near impossible. It looks good.Fenrir wrote: I don't dig the colours. What's with all this pastel pink, white, red, rounded corners in connection with a space, hi-tech environment?

I have no clue what you mean. The movements allow more fast reactions then with R-Type and Apidya at least. Compared to DUX those games play like on valium. However, when you're serious about this you can explain this a bit more, maybe your're right after all about this.Everything looks incredibly sluggish.

I think its a western way of thinking, to think that everthing that uses many colors must be cute. It's like when poeple think that an anime is for kids, because of its look.It feels like a cute 'em up without the cute factor.
It's obviously disabled. Also, what's with the collision detection there?
I disagree with this, while the bosses aren't the most involving around, they aren't less involving then with R-Type. Actually, they are way more involving, given the lack of sweet spots and the need to soak up the bullets. With R-Type instead you can either blast a boss off with just one beam or just put the ship on one sweet spot and press and shoot. Pulstar of course has more to offer on this though. It doesn't look very involving, doesn't convey the idea that you're fighting a big motherfucker in space.
You can soak em up with the pod, and nearer bullets do accelerate faster. Smaller bullets are easier and faster to soak up then big bullets. It makes the game and especially boss fights more involving.I don't understand what's going on with enemy bullets.
Yeah, thanks nonthless. I'm not too abused by you btw, it's just that some of the stuff you thay doesn't make very sense to me and the opposite of what you are saying is right to me.Best of luck

In other news, I had the pleasure (if you call it that) of play Last Hope recently, and I now see where all the fuss comes from. It's hard!Bugs
11.05.09
All the bugs that have been occured by a compiling issue are solved, now the game is bug free as possible. More regarding the release of the game very soon.
